  • Hospice of the Bluegrass’ dedication to Veterans achieves high honor

    The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) announces that Hospice of the Bluegrass has been awarded the We Honor Veterans Level Four Partner, the highest recognition offered by NHPCO for service to veterans. Hospice of the Bluegrass is the only hospice in Kentucky and one of only 25 in the nation to achieve this designation.

  • Edward Jones rated highest in overall employee satisfaction

    For the fourth time in as many studies, Edward Jones financial advisors rate the firm “Highest in Employee Advisor Satisfaction among Financial Investment Firms,” according to a newly released study by J.D. Power and Associates.
    The J.D. Power and Associates 2012 Financial Advisor Satisfaction Study ranked Edward Jones Highest in Employee Advisor Satisfaction among Financial Investment Firms. Eight financial services firms ranked. This is the fourth time J.D. Power has conducted the study since 2007.

  • Scifres attends Spring Optometric Educational Congress

    Dr. Angela Scifres, optometrist, who has offices in Cynthiana and Paris, Ky., attended the Kentucky Optometric Association’s 110th Annual Spring Educational Congress, April 26-29, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Louisville, Ky.
    At the conference, Scifres attended lectures on ocular emergencies, macular degeneration, glaucoma and pharmacology updates. In addition to four days of continuing education, the conference also included an exhibit hall featuring the latest products and services in optometry.

  • Toyota to increase 4-cylinder engine capacity in Kentucky

    Toyota announced that it will increase annual engine assembly capacity of 4-cylinder engines by more than 100,000 at its plant in Georgetown, Ky.  The increase will begin August 2013. The approximately $30 million project will create about 80 new jobs.
    Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) currently assembles engines for the Avalon, Camry and Venza, all built at TMMK. The capacity increase will supply engines for TMMK’s Camry and Camry Hybrid and RAV4 in Woodstock, Ontario.

  • Kentucky Bancshares reports earnings for first quarter

    Kentucky Bancshares, Inc., parent company of Kentucky Bank, reported an increase of $356,000, a 28 percent increase, in earnings for the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same period in 2011.  Earnings are $1,618,000, or fully diluted 2012 earnings per share of $0.60, compared to $1,262,000, or fully diluted earnings per share of $0.46 for the same period of 2011.

  • Eubanks receives Bourbon Community Hospital’s 2012 Mercy Award

    Sherry Eubanks was recently awarded Bourbon Community Hospital’s 2012 Mercy Award. This honor places Eubanks in nomination for LifePoint’s 2012 Mercy Award, the highest honor an employee can earn with LifePoint Hospitals, Inc., the parent company of Bourbon Community Hospital.

    The 31st annual Texaco Country Showdown” is coming to Cynthiana.
    The local Country Showdown will be held on Friday, May 18, 7:30 p.m. at Rohs Opera House.
    Genuine Country 1400 AM will host America’s largest country music talent search and radio promotion.  Approximately $200,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded nationwide including the grand prize of $100,000 cash to the national winner, presented at the national final televised special.
