    StopDisaster - This iPhone app walks you through preparedness checklists for hurricanes, earthquakes, blizzards and other disasters.
    Dropbox - Install the program on your PC or Mac, upload files to your folder, and they are instantly available on all your other computers.
    MotionX GPS Drive - MotionX GPS Drive is the cheapest and most popular way to guide you out of town on an unfamiliar route.

    Class Offerings List:
    •Monday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. - “Introduction to the Internet and Basic Internet Usage”
    •Monday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. - “Resume Class” Come to learn how to use the new program at the library Cypress Resume
    •Monday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.  - “Social Media/Internet Privacy” – This is the same class being offered on Sept. 17. This is a one session class.

  • Local fabric store celebrates fifth anniversary

    Purr-sonally Yours quilt and fabric shop celebrated its five-year anniversary at the end of June.
    The shop is owned by Diane and Mark McClain, who also own Radio Shack.
    Diane McClain said a few things have changed since they first opened. She said they started as an embroidery shop and changed to a full fabric and quilt shop.
    McClain said they have even had to expand to the back of Radio Shack.
    The McClains opened the store in the Harrison Square five years ago because they had the space available at the time.

  • McCann to hold auditions for his 10-minute play

    Local playwright, William McCann, who recently moved to Harrison County, announces that auditions for his 10-minute play “Three O’clock” will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Cynthiana Christian Church, 202 N. Main St. A single performance of “Three O’clock” will be performed on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 3 p.m. on the Performing Arts Stage, North Wing, at the 2012 Kentucky State Fair in Louisville.

  • Mallory accepted into art exhibition

    Local artist Wesley Mallory of Harrison County has his artwork, Point of Departure – Oil on Canvas, accepted into ViewPoint 44, 2012, a national juried art competition sponsored by the Cincinnati Art Club. This marks the 44th year for this annual competition which comprises 70 works by national artists in various media.

  • Cynthiana Dental Center holds ribbon cutting ceremony for their new location

    A new dental center opened March 5 in Cynthiana.
    The Cynthiana Dental Center is run by Drs. Jason McIlvain and Jewell Meade.
    Meade said she and McIlvain worked together at a dental center in Paris and had wanted to open a center in Cynthiana in a few years. She said they didn’t think it would happen this soon though.
    Everything started falling into place, Meade bought the land and building and then the construction began.
