  • Mallory accepted into art exhibition

    Local artist Wesley Mallory of Harrison County has his artwork, Point of Departure – Oil on Canvas, accepted into ViewPoint 44, 2012, a national juried art competition sponsored by the Cincinnati Art Club. This marks the 44th year for this annual competition which comprises 70 works by national artists in various media.

  • Cynthiana Dental Center holds ribbon cutting ceremony for their new location

    A new dental center opened March 5 in Cynthiana.
    The Cynthiana Dental Center is run by Drs. Jason McIlvain and Jewell Meade.
    Meade said she and McIlvain worked together at a dental center in Paris and had wanted to open a center in Cynthiana in a few years. She said they didn’t think it would happen this soon though.
    Everything started falling into place, Meade bought the land and building and then the construction began.

  • New tanning and furniture businesses open downtown

    There are two new local businesses in town, Samson and Ma’s and Cyn City Sun.
    Samson and Ma’s furniture store opened a week ago in Bridge Street Plaza at the corner of Bridge and Walnut streets.
    The owners are Rob and Heidi Samson and Rob’s mom Judy Arrosmith, hence the name Samson and Ma’s.
    “(The store is) family-owned and operated,” Samson said.
    The three owners and the Samson daughter, Hailey Faith, are from Fleming County and drive to Cynthiana to work at the store.

  • Bourbon County Heart Walk raises over $2,500

    Bourbon County held their first Heart Walk on May 19. The walk was sponsored by Bourbon Community Hospital and 44 walkers participated in the event. Everyone was entertained prior to the event with a Zumba demonstration provided by the hospital’s Zumba Class led by Certified Zumba Instructor, Angela Fugate.
