Tradition tells of a chime that rang out on July 8, 1776, from the tower of Independence Hall summoning the citizens of Philadelphia to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence by Colonel John Nixon.
That chime came from the Liberty Bell which has ever since become a symbol of the iconic Declaration upon which so many of our freedoms rest.
