  • EARLYWINE/KELLEY/KELLY
    The annual reunion of the late Harley and Lula Kelley/Kelly Earlywine will be held Sunday, Aug. 10 at Blue Licks State Park. A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. at the big shelter across from the museum. All friends and family are invited to attend. Everyone is urged to bring some favorite family recipe for a family cookbook.

  • Charles (Bob) and Patsy Lilley of Cynthiana, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on Sunday, July 20.
    The couple were married on July 22, 1989.

  • In celebration of its 20 year anniversary, the Cynthiana-Harrison County Trust, Inc. will be re-broadcasting some of its Museum Shows that date from the mid-1990s to the early-2000s. The shows will air on Channel 6 Cable at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 20 to Wednesday, Aug. 13. The following is the schedule of shows:
    • Sunday, July 20 – Mary Grable introduces the 20th Anniversary Celebration
    • Monday, July 21 – First Museum Show, September 1995
    • Tuesday, July 22 – Browse through the Museum

  • * 20 Years!! This July 18-19, the Cynthiana-Harrison County Museum will celebrate 20 years of preserving and sharing the history of our city and county.
    * It is remarkable that on July 22, 1994, a few interested citizens (some of whom continue to diligently work at it) opened this special community’s history and art museum.

  • Small stalks, small ears, poor kernel development …  does this describe your corn crop this year? Or maybe the raccoons absconded with the crop.
    If this sounds like your garden, there may be several factors at work. Drought at the wrong time can stunt your corn crop; cold damage can stunt corn (if you put your crop out early you could see a little stunting from a late spring cold snap); and poor drainage and poor soil fertility, especially nitrogen, can stunt the crop as well.

    There was a giant hornets’ nest hanging off the bath house of the boys’ cabins. From a distance, the boys were each taking turns throwing rocks to knock it down.
