  • I have always loved the fall season. Fall colors are among my first recollections. I am no scientist; but, I appreciate discovery. I went on a treasure hunt via the internet recently and read about trees changing color. I wanted to learn about what transpires to produce this transformation. I found that in the summer photosynthesis produces chlorophyll enabling  leaves in trees to become green. In the fall, days become shorter and colder. The chlorophyll production decreases and the leaves display their “true” colors.

  • When I first started writing professionally, I mostly wrote humor stories for Christian magazines.
It was fun, and I often cracked myself up. But it was also hard work. With humor, you have to get the rhythm right. You have to choose your words carefully and economically.
And you have to know the ending, the punchline, often before you write your opening line.
With humor, you write to the punchline. It’s all about how you end.
