    The 1959 graduating class of Harrison County High School will be having their 50th reunion on June 13, 2009 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana Country Club.

    All classmates and friends who attended school with these members from 1947-1959 are welcome to attend.

    The Cynthiana High School Alumni Banquet will be held Saturday, June 27, at the Elks Lodge. Classes honored are 1934, 1939, 1944, 1949, 1954, 1959.

    Vacation Bible School

    Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy learning, singing, crafts and recreation at Camp E.D.G.E. at Boyers Chapel Methodist Church. VBS will be held June 10, 17, 24, and July 1 and 8 from 6-8 p.m. All age groups are welcome to attend including adults.

    There will be a potluck dinner on Sunday, June 7 to kickoff the event. Pastor is Barry Holland.

  • The most common form of plant propagation is digging and dividing which is best done in early spring before new growth or in the fall before plants go dormant.  Digging and dividing is great for herbaceous plants but those plants that are considered woody ornamentals do not divide as easily with a spade. In this case we can look to the technique of rooting out softwood cuttings from the mother plant.

  • Ashton Edward Allen Durbin

    Ashton Edward Allen Durbin was born to Crystal Kelly and Edward Durbin III of Cynthiana on April 29, 2009 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz.

    Maternal grandparents are Bobby Kelly and Debbie Kelly of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Jean and Frank Fitch and Janie and Jay Craig.

    Paternal grandparents are Susan and Edward Durbin Jr. of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Jean and Ethel Sparks and Ed and Sally Durbin.

    The Anness family reunion will be held Sunday, June 7 at Northside Elementary School. A potluck lunch will be served at noon.

  • * City Council, April 16, 1863 - “On motion, a committee consisting of F. Gray, T. J. Parrish and J. S. Frizell were appointed to purchase hemlock planks and contract for posts for a new fence for two sides (the south and west) of the graveyard. The said committee were instructed to report whether it is expedient to use any of the locust trees in the graveyard for posts and how many.”

    Campbell Perrin McCann was born to Codye Hill McCann and Robert Joseph McCann on April 5, 2009 at Central Baptist Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz.

    Maternal grandparents are Barry and Carla Hill; maternal great-grandparents are Jane and J.R. Hill, and the late Louise and Carlos Perrin.

    Paternal grandparents are Dave and Anita McCann.
