    Charles Doak Campbell was born to Skye and Brent Campbell of Louisville, Ky. on July 29, 2009 at Baptist East Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 1 oz.

    Camden Levi Moss was born to Ian and Martha Moss on May 12, 2009 at Central Baptist Hospital. He weighed 8 lbs. 14 oz.

  • * Log Cabin, Nov. 11, 1905 - “The Cynthiana Electric Light Co. was incorporated December, 1889, with a capital stock of $22,000 and commenced operation in March, 1890, beginning with a 65 horse power engine and Dynamo of 750 lights capacity. In 1895, the capacity was doubled by the purchase of a 125 horsepower Lane & Bradley engine and a 1,500 fight dynamo.

    CLASS OF 1994

    The Harrison County High School Class of 1994 invites all classmates to attend their 15 year reunion Saturday, Sept. 26 from 8 p.m. – midnight at Cherry Blossom Golf and Country Club in Georgetown, Ky. Cost is $60 for a couple or $35 for an individual.

    CLASS OF 1999

  • The new Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) is available statewide. Interested land users may submit an application beginning Aug. 10, 2009, at their local USDA Service Center. Although applications will be accepted on a continuous basis, a ranking cut-off has been scheduled for Sept. 30, 2009. To apply for the new program, potential participants will be encouraged to use a self-screening checklist first to determine whether the new program is suitable for them or their operation.

    It is available on NRCS website and at NRCS field offices.

  • Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds agricultural producers of deadlines to apply for the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) for crops in order to be eligible for the agency’s Disaster Assistance Programs.

  • The National FFA Organization announces that Tanner Hudgins of Cynthiana was selected as a national finalist for the National FFA Proficiency Award in Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance - Entrepreneurship. Hudgins is one of four chosen to compete for this award at the national finals to be held in October during the FFA national convention in Indianapolis, Ind.

    Author Visit. Thursday, Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the Feix Community Room at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Author Jan Watson will be talking about her newest book Sweetwater Run. She is also the author of Troublesome Creek, Willow Springs, and Torrent Falls.

    FRIDAY, Sept. 4

    Fish Fry and Gospel Music. Hosted by Berry United Methodist Church, Friday, Sept. 4 at the Harrison County 4-H Fairgrounds. Serving time is  5-10 p.m. Cost is $5. Gospel music starts at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
