    Edible Book Contest. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will be hosting an edible book contest on April 14. For an entry form or more information stop by the front desk or contact Cindy Franklin cfranklin@cynthianalibrary.org.
    Berry City Commission will meet Thursday, April 14 at 7 p.m., at Berry City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.
    Northside Council. Northside Site Based Council will meet Thursday, April 14 at 3:45 p.m. in the Northside library. The public is invited to attend.

  • I know Ash Wednesday has come and gone, and we’re smack in the middle of Lent, but Ash Wednesday is on my mind.
    This year I went to two Ash Wednesday services, one in the morning and one at night.
    My husband had asked, “Are you that bad?”
    Well, last year I had vowed to give up recreational shopping for the 40 days leading up to Easter and I did well until I resisted not the temptation to buy something that I can’t even remember and probably isn’t even in my closet anymore.

    The Voices In Praise youth choir from Cynthiana Presbyterian Church will perform a drama musical entitled “The Prodigal” on Friday, April 15 at 7 p.m.
    All youth groups from Cynthiana and Harrison County churches are invited to attend. A reception will follow the performance.

    Faith Pentecostal Church will be having their soup supper for the needy on Friday, April 15 starting at 5 p.m.

    Flip Flop Picture Frame. Thursday, April 7 at 5:30 p.m. for ages 5 to 12 at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library. Please sign up for this program by calling 234-4881 or visiting the circulation desk in the Children’s Library. Space is limited.
    Harrison County Republicans welcomes the public to hear State Rep. Lonnie Napier speak at the monthly meeting to be held Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m. at the Sheriff's Office meeting room on Pike Street.

  • Molly Rae Burden was born to Jeremy and Stephanie Pierce Burden of Cynthiana on Feb. 10, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs. 1 oz., and is welcomed by her sister, MaKenzie Lynne.
    Maternal grandparents are Larry and Judy Pierce of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are J.L. and Louise Richardson.
    Paternal grandparents are Kenny and Connie Burden of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Kenny and Barbara Burden and the late Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Spegal.

  • Charles “Bud” and Joann McCarty celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary at Cedar Ridge Health Campus on Sunday, April 3. On Monday, April 4 the Cedar Ridge staff provided a private candlelight dinner that was prepared for them to enjoy to celebrate their anniversary. It consisted of steak, salad, baked potato, grilled asparagus and a strawberry shortcake for dessert. The table was beautifully decorated with a spring floral arrangement and candle light.

  • Delaney Shea Koch was born to Charles and Katie Koch on March 14, 2011 at The Women’s Hospital at St. Joseph East in Lexington, Ky. She weighed 8 lbs. 6 oz., and is welcomed by her sister, Sutton.
    Maternal grandparents are Stephen and Ann (Gorey) Northam of Jeffersonville, Ind.
    Paternal grandparents are Gus and Theresa Koch of Paris, Ky.

  • Lilly Elizabeth Gribble was born March 28, 2011 to Robert and Nicole Gribble of Cynthiana at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs., and is welcomed by her brother, Bobby, and sister, Courtney.
    Maternal grandparents are Keith and Mickiee Browning of Cynthiana and the late Michael Gasser; maternal great-grandparents are the late Ollie and Cecilia Gasser and the late Ray and Louise Muntz, all of Cynthiana.

  • Cordelia Eve Buckler was born to Kevin and Ramona Buckler of Cynthiana on March 29, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz., and is welcomed by her sister, Cadence Leigh Buckler.
