  • THURSDAY, Nov. 17
    Harrison County Historical Society will meet Thursday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Annex. Billy and Sharon Fowler will present a program about the ca 1830’s Handy Farm barn. The public is always welcome.
    FRIDAY, Nov. 18
    Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Nov. 18 at  New Beginnings at 10:30 a.m.; Our Little Miracles, 11 a.m.; Robynwood Heights, 2:30-3:30 p.m.

  • The Harrison County courthouse lawn is dotted with monuments reminding us of the soldiers who have fought and died for our freedoms.
    Words like valor, bravery, courage, true grit and heroism are used to describe their service. They seem like such small words for the huge sacrifice they and their families made for the rest of us.
    This year’s Veterans’ Day program at Battle Grove Cemetery honors the men from Harrison County who died during World War II. There are 48 of them.

  • THURSDAY, Nov. 10
    Northside Council. The Northside Site Based Council will meet Thursday, Nov.  10 at 3:45 p.m. in the school library. The public is invited to attend.
    Cynthiana Board of Adjustment will meet Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. in the Planning Commission Office at the Harrison County Courthouse, South Main Street. The meetings are open to the public.
    FRIDAY, Nov. 11
    Berry City Commission will meet Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m., at Berry City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.

  • BERRY CHRISTIAN
    The Berry Christian Church bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring local artists, Tupperware, premier jewelry, Rada knives and crafts. Items on hand or special order available.
    Everyone is welcome.

    Central Christian Leadership would like to thank those who attended the “Singspiration” on Oct. 23.
    Pastor Barry Wethington has returned from his trip to Haiti with renewed determination to continue his participation in such outreach programs.

  • Last week my friend Mike got baptized.
    As the only adult being baptized, he was upstaged by some cute little kids and a baby, but he still shined.
    We baptize babies and grownups at my church because we believe baptism is not so much us declaring our commitment to follow Jesus, but it’s our declaration that we’re in desperate need of his cleansing.
    It’s one of two sacraments we celebrate, the other one being communion.

  • Kendall Denise Furnish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Furnish of Cynthiana, and Joseph Ivan Henson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Henson of Cynthiana, were united in holy matrimony at the Cathedral of Christ the King in Lexington on June 25, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. The double-ring ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Gino Donatelli.
    The bride is the granddaughter of the late Dennis and Alberta Tussey, Nancy Furnish and the late Wilson Furnish of Cynthiana.

  • Brittany Michelle Fish, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Durham of Lexington, Ky., and Brian Fish of Nashville, Tenn., and Christopher Allen Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Jones of Harrison County, were married July 23, 2011 at Providence Christian Church in Nicholasville, Ky. The Rev. Gerald Johns Jr. officiated at the ceremony.

  • Sonja R. Stanfield of Cynthiana, and Timothy T. French of Cynthiana, were united in marriage Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011 in Cynthiana. The ceremony was officiated by G.J. Pelkey.
    The bride is the daughter of Nancy and Huey Stanfield of Cynthiana.
    The groom is the son of Wanda Sivin of Cynthiana and Melvin French of Beaver Creek, Ohio.
