  • The Spring Paris CPH sale will be held Friday, April 22 at the Paris Stockyards. The sale will carry the requirements of all CPH sales including age verification of all animals.
With extremely high beef prices most CPH sales have realized extra benefits which are rewarded to those who have done the requirements of the program. These requirements include a vaccination program, de-worming and adequate mineral program and livestock knowing how to eat and drink from feeders and waterers.

  • Spring break from teaching at U of L falls conveniently during the week of St. Patrick’s Day and when I always plant out my seed potato for the year.
While I always manage a mid-March planting, we must consider the condition of the soil.  Don’t start digging if the soil is too wet. Be patient and only work once the soil is friable.
Select potato varieties that compliment the way you cook. The most versatile varieties include favorites like Yukon Gold and Red Cloud.

  • The new minister at Victory Baptist Church says that “love” will be the foundation on which he plans to base all  of his sermons.
Cynthiana continues to be blessed with new faces in the pulpits of churches on Sunday morning. Included in the new additions to the community is  fourth generation preacher, Kurt A. Raglin.
Growing up in his father’s church in Owingsville Ky., Raglin decided to devote his life to Christ when he was in the sixth grade.

  • When I was 12 I went steady with Paul Minardi.
He gave me his blue St. Christopher’s medal, which is what boys gave their girlfriends back then, back before St. Christopher was de-sainted.
I don’t remember how long we went steady, only that he broke up with me and shattered my 12-year-old heart.
It was the Worst. Breakup. Ever.
Until the next one, that is.

  • If you ever want to see me panic, just call and say you’re coming over for a visit.
On Sunday, a man my husband used to work with called to say he and his wife were in our area, about an hour away.
He had asked, “Are you going to be home for a while?”
That’s never a question I like to be asked unless it’s from the Publisher’s Clearing House people wanting my address so they can deliver a giant bazillion dollar check.
