  • Every family begins with a marriage.
    Two weeks ago, my family got together in California to celebrate our parents’ marriage with a huge party for their 60th anniversary.
    It was a 50’s party, minus the poodle skirts and black leather jackets.
    My sister transformed her garage into a 50’s-style combination soda shoppe and hot rod garage, complete with a juke box in the corner playing classic oldies music.

    Missionary David Parks will be speaking at Calvary Assembly on Sunday, Aug. 12 at 10:45 a.m. He formerly started churches in Azerbaijan and is now going to start churches in Great Britain. Calvary Assembly is located at 325 Webster Ave.
    Youth Service Sunday, Aug. 19 at 10:45 a.m. at Calvary Assembly under the leadership of Bud Gauze, Youth Pastor, the youth will lead the entire service. This will include worship, speaking, special music and drama.

  • Charles Leonard Yazell and Tinley Thomas Yazell were born to Ashley and Glen Yazell on March 19, 2012, at the University of Kentucky Hospital.
    Charlie weighed 1 lb., 9 oz., and Tinley weighed 1 lb., 11 oz., and are welcomed by a brother, Glen Ray “Trace” Yazell III, and a sister, Carley Nicole Yazell.
    Maternal grandparents are Roger Wade and Rachel Moore and Paula Howard; maternal great-grandparents are Don and Liz Wade and Betty Howard; maternal great-great grandparents are James and Mary Reffett.  

  • Koltyn Keith Noble Wilson was born to Alisha Wilson and Justin Noble of Cynthiana on July 24, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    He weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Kyle Ann Noble Wilson.
    Maternal grandparents are D. Wilson and Ronald Wilson of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Dora Clair and Lenard Mitchell, Sammy Wilson and Nancy Wilson.
    Paternal grandparents are Lois Ann Hill and Junior Noble of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Ethel Barnett and Estill Wayne Barnett, and Marian Noble and Ruby Baker.

  • Ryder Lee Pugh was born to Brandon Pugh and Briana Guptill of Cynthiana on July 26, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Sheyenne Pugh.
    Maternal grandparents are Kelli and Shane Mcfarland of Lexington, Ky.; maternal great-grandparents are Bonnie and Tony Layne and Trisha and Roger Mcfarland.
    Paternal grandparents are Diana and Winston Pugh of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Eula and Bill Cooper, Darrell and Shirley Pugh, and Wanda and John Otto.

  • Evaline Elise Spivey was born to Susan and Adam Spivey of Lexington, Ky. on May 25, 2012 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. she weighed 8 lbs., and is welcomed by her sister, Lilly.
    Maternal grandparents are Joe and Millie Hudgins of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are the late Margaret Hudgins and Curtis Paul Hudgins.
    Paternal grandparents are Mark and Ellen Spivey of Lexington; paternal great-grandparents are are Betty Hicks of Cadiz, Ky., and Bernard and pat Spivey of Patterison, La.

  • Cooper Allen Justice was born to Mindy Miller and Steven Justice of Cynthiana on June 29, 2012 at Central Baptist Hospital.
    He weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Jayca Kiersten Justice.
    Maternal grandparents are Carol Miller and Troy Miller of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Teresa and Montie Justice of Shelbiana.

  • Mike and Laura Wachter of Cynthiana, Ky., and George Wm. Wilder II of Lexington, Ky., announce the marriage of their daughter Whitney Lebus Wilder to Joshua Jacob Anton. Anton is the son of Gregg and Lisa Anton and Steve and Kim Powell of Mansfield, Ohio.
    The garden wedding was held at 5 p.m. at the Bodley Bullock House in Lexington, Ky. on May 26, 2012. A dinner and dance reception followed at the Spring Valley Golf Club.
    Bridal attendants were Anna Rush, maid of honor, Cassie Maribeto, Ann Sydney Taylor, Amanda Boers and Lindsey Beaudry.

  • Harrison County Extension Homemakers are planning a winter day trip to Wheeling, W.Va. in December to the Festival of Lights.
    We will leave on Tuesday, Dec. 4 from the Extension Office at 7 a.m. and arrive at Wheeling around 3 p.m. We will have dinner (included) at the historic Wilson Lodge. We will then visit the Winter Fantasy Laser Light Show and Train display from 6:30- 7:30 p.m. and end with a guided tour of the Festival of Lights from 7:30-9:30 p.m.
