  • Julian McKee and Helen Vance McKee celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on Oct. 23.
    The couple has four children, Larry (Pat) McKee of Carlisle, Ky., Jo Ann (Harry) Havens of Millersburg, Ky., Eddie (Sandy) McKee of Marysville, Ohio and Ronnie McKee of Cynthiana; six grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
    The couple resides in Paris, Ky.

  • Raymond (Jr.) and Jeannette Caswell will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 3 with a reception. The reception will be held at First United Methodist Church, corner of Church and Pike St., from 2-5 p.m. No gifts please.

    We want to make it clear that these calls are not from Harrison Memorial Hospital. We are not changing billing companies. We believe this is a scam.

  • Volunteers from Lexington and surrounding counties will prepare homes in Central Kentucky for the upcoming winter as part of the annual WinterBlitz program sponsored by Community Action Council and Kentucky Utilities Company on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. The homes will be winterized by installing plastic seals over windows and providing residents with energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs, water conservation kits as well as tips and information.

  • Staci Renee Waggoner, daughter of Robert and Cheryl Waggoner, and John Alan Feeback, son of Mary June Brunker and Tod and Judy Feeback, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The ceremony will take place Nov. 2, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at Cynthiana Christian Church, 202 N. Main St., Cynthiana, Ky.

  • Jane Whitehead, vice Regent, called the meeting to order and welcomed guests and members.
    The DAR Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance, Americans Creed, and the Preamble were recited, followed by singing of the Star Spangled Banner.
    Requested that pop tabs, box tops, Campbell soup labels, and gel or crystal packs be saved and turned in at the April meeting to help with NSDAR projects.

  • In our editorial conference room at the newspaper I write for, during reporter staff meetings I sit in the end seat nearest the door.
    It doesn’t have my name on it, but that’s my seat.
    It’s not necessarily the best seat at the table; it’s just mine. It’s where I sit.
    A few weeks ago, I walked into a reporter’s meeting and Mike, another reporter ,was in my seat.
