    The Henry N. and LuMara Fryman family reunion will be held July 21 at Unity Christian Church on Hwy. 36 W. Cynthiana, Ky. Descendants include families of Edward and Nettie Fryman, Ottis and Minnie Fryman, Florence and Dove Wagner, Ada and Wilford Wagner, Clara and Orie Florence, Ida Jane and James Snapp.

  • The harriCYN Community Theatre is now seeking directors and plays for its upcoming 2014 season. If you are a director and would like to direct a play in our community,  submit a detailed proposal to direct to the harriCYN Community Theatre by emailing harricyn@yahoo.com.

  • KaTrina Robinson, Georgetown, Ky., daughter of George and Geneva Robinson, and Terry Smith, Georgetown, son of Terry Gilkey of Versailles, Ky. and Lisa Glenn of Cynthiana, Ky., announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The wedding will take place Aug. 24, 2013 at 4:30 p.m. at Great Crossing Baptist Church, Georgetown, with Terry Gilkey officiating the ceremony.

  • * Log Cabin, May 13, 1905 -- “The young men of the Twentieth Century Euchre Club will give a euchre party at St. Edwards Hall next Tuesday night, this being the last of the season.”
    * Cynthiana Democrat, April 12, 1951 -- “George Smith, believed to be the oldest resident of Northern Kentucky, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Covington, at the age of 102. A native of Cynthiana and a resident of Covington for many years, Smith was born in slavery in 1849. He was freed by the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863.”

  • The family of Anna Mae Currans will host a special birthday celebration in her honor on July 14 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Cynthiana Christian Church.
    The public is invited to come share in the celebration with cards, pictures and memories. No gifts please.

  • Rick and Debbie Wade of Versailles announce the engagement of their daughter, Taylor Elizabeth, to Chase Allen Cooper of Versailles, son of Buck and Lori Cooper of Lexington and Tammy McClain of Nicholasville.
    The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Frances Simms of Cynthiana and the late Bob Simms and Dick and Janet Wade of Versailles.
    The bridegroom-elect is the grandson of Linda and Jerry Casey of Versailles.
    The wedding will take place in July.

  • Jessica Ross of Lexington, Ky., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Ross, Lexington, and Jeff Fugate, Lexington, son of Linda Gilbert, Lexington, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The Ross is the granddaughter of Ophelia Ross and the late Marvin Ross and the late Lark and Ruth Box.
    The wedding will be held Aug. 24, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at The Barrel House Gardens.

  • Season 6 of AMC’s “Mad Men” ended recently with the main character, Don Draper, finally (Hopefully) hitting rock bottom.
    For the first five seasons, the Madison Avenue ad man of the 1960s was the man every other man wanted to be and the man every woman wanted to be with.
    Smooth, handsome, supremely talented at his job, he could charm his way into or out of anything.
    At the same time, Don Draper lived a lie. Born Dick Whitman, he grew up dirt poor in a Pennsylvania whorehouse, the son of a prostitute.

  • PRAYER WALK
    A Prayer Walk will be held Sunday, July 14. Will begin at the courthouse at 6 p.m. and ending at the Farmers Market Pavilion at Veterans Park around 6:30 p.m. where worship and prayer for Harrison County will be led by area pastors.
    Meet at 6:30 p.m. at Veterans’ Park if you are not able to do the Walk.
    The event is sponsored by Prayer for Harrison County. A non-denominational Christian ministry promoting prayer.

    Harrison County Soil and Water Conservation District will be holding their July board meeting on July 8 at 7:30 at 103 Rodgers Park Dr.
