  • “An Evening of Christmas Music” will be presented by pianist Beth Laytart on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. The concert will be held in the upstairs sanctuary of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church which is located on the corner of Main and Pleasant streets. The church is handicapped accessible and has an elevator for those who need it. The program will be a mixture of both sacred and secular holiday music.

    OF GOD
    Living Nativity Scene:  The 6th annual “The Live Nativity Story” will be held at Calvary Assembly of God (across from high school), 325 Webster Ave., Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10 and 11 at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m. nightly. Free cookies and hot chocolate will be served inside after each performance.
    If cancelled due to bad weather it will be rescheduled for the next weekend Dec. 17 and 18 at the same times.

    Derek Webber Scholarship Fundraiser to be held Thursday, Dec. 16 at 7 p.m. at Rohs Opera House. Admission is free. Donations accepted for the Webber Scholarship Fund at Licking Valley Campus. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation will be showing.

    Bookmobile. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Bookmobile will be available Friday, Dec. 17 at Cynthiana Baptist Daycare at 10:30 a.m.; Shady Lawn, 11 a.m.; Eastside Laundry, 2 p.m.

  • Bella Lee Quesenberry was born to Savannah Renaker and Dennis Quesenberry of Cynthiana on Dec. 2, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz.

  • Blake Calvin Lee Robertson was born to Brian and Lisa Robertson of Cynthiana on Sept. 24, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz.

  • Gavin Martin Palmer was born to David Martin and Laira Palmer of Cynthiana on Sept. 27, 2010 at St. Joseph East Women’s Center. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz., and is welcomed by his brother Jonus and sister Daira.

  • Considering how the quest for exotic spice fueled exploration around the world in the 15th century, it is no wonder that our favorite holiday flavors herald from around the world. From Southwest India to Southeast Asia, we find cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and mace.
    True cinnamon comes from the bark of Cinnamomum zeylanicum, an evergreen tree native to Southwest India.  This is the premium spice that is harvested just as new growth emerges from 2-year-old stems. It has a light brown color and the interior of the quills (the curled strips) consist of several layers.

  • Landon Gunnar Thomas was born to Drew and Brittany Thomas of Falmouth, Ky. on Nov. 17, 2010 at St. Elizabeth North. He weighed 9 lbs. 1 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Addison Jo.
    Maternal grandparents are Rick and Pam Yelton of Morgan, Ky.
    Paternal grandparents are Jackie and Joy Thomas of Butler, Ky.
    Great-grandparents are Jack and Pat Yelton, Cecil and Dottie Alsip and Brenda Thomas of Cynthiana and the late Jack Thomas.
