  • Charles and Shelby Doyle will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on April 28. The couple was married at the First Church of God in Cynthiana by the Rev. Lovell J. Sorrell on April 28, 1961.
    They have four children: Jeff (Darlene) Doyle of Cynthiana, Greg (Terri) Doyle of Norman Okla., Sharon (Willie) Riggle of Cynthiana and Robe (Aleta) Doyle of Mt. Sterling, Ky.
    The couple will be honored with a reception on May 1 at Indian Creek Christian Church from 2-4 p.m.  Everyone is invited to attend.

  • Bud and Patty Barton Purcell will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on May 2. They were married at Cynthiana Baptist Church by the Rev. Paul Tirey.
    They have two children, Courtney, who will graduate from Asbury University this year, and Justin, a junior at Harrison County High School.

  • 2011 Harrison County
    4-H Style Revue
    The 2011 Harrison County 4-H Style Revue will be held Saturday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at the Harrison County High School. The 4-H Style Revue is the end result of a tremendous amount of work and time by the leaders and 4-H’ers of the 4-H Crocheting, Knitting and Sewing projects. Without the dedication of these 4-H leaders of their time, efforts, and talents, many of the young ladies and gentlemen involved would not have the opportunity to learn clothing construction skills, develop self confidence, poise, and modeling skills.

    HCHS Site Council. The Harrison County High School Site Based Decision Making Council will be accepting nominations for parent members beginning Wednesday, April 20-28. See Kim Soard in the HCHS front office for a form. Voting will take place Friday, April 29 from 3-7 p.m.
    Historical Book for the month of April is Stolen Lives by Malika Oufkir. Will meet Thursday, April 28 at 5:30 p.m. Copies of the book are available at the front desk of the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.

  • The annual Equal Pay Day event is held each year as a reminder that it takes an extra three and one half months for women to make the same as our male counterparts do in 12 months. Women make 77 cents to every one dollar men make.
