  • Mr. and Mrs. Lewis B. Furnish of Cynthiana, announce the engagement of their daughter, Kendall Denise, to Joseph Ivan Henson, son of Frank and Debbie Henson of Cynthiana.
    Furnish graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Kentucky receiving a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She is employed by Cherntura AgroSolutions.
    Henson graduated from Eastern Kentucky University receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He is employed by Pella.

  • Katie Boaz of Georgetown, Ky., daughter of Ron and Kathy Boaz, Lexington, Ky., and Ben Royse, Georgetown, son of Keith and Jeanie Royse, Cynthiana, exchanged vows on Aug. 28, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. at Southern Hills United Methodist Church, Lexington. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Lester Coldwell and David Sparks.
    The bride was given in marriage by her parents.

  • During March, Family and Consumer Science professionals with the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service will make special efforts to educate citizens about ways to improve the quality of life for adults, youth, individuals and families.
    The emphasis is on eating right through nutrition and food safety, spending smart through financial management skills, enjoying home through safety, relationships and parenting skills, and sharing time through community and volunteerism.

  • Courtney Moore, daughter of Matt and Heather Moore and Regina and Joel Ralston of Cynthiana, has been selected finalist for Kentucky’s 31st Annual Homecoming Queen Selection to be held April 9 and 10 at the Crowne Plaza Louisville Airport in Louisville, Ky.
    She is the Harrison County High School Homecoming Queen.
    Kentucky’s 2011 Homecoming Queen will receive a cash scholarship plus an all expense paid trip to the National finals to compete with the queens from the other states for America’s Homecoming Queen.

  • * Cynthiana Democrat, April 27, 1933 - “A section of the weights of the courthouse clock weighing about 1500 pounds fell from the cupola about nine o’clock Monday morning when the cable of twisted metal holding the weight broke sending it crashing through the second story to the stairway in the lobby, where it rolled down the steps to the first floor. No one was in the lobby at the time of the accident.”

  • Marymichael Elane Gasser was born to Nathan and Megan Gasser of Cynthiana on Jan. 24, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz., and is welcomed by her brother, Addison and sister, Kathryn.
    Maternal grandparents are Kevin and Kathy Grayson of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Billy and Shirley Grayson and Lewis and Mary Jo Gaffin; maternal great-great-grandmother is Lucy Grayson of Cynthiana.

  • Lillian Elizabeth (Lilly Beth) Brown was born to Stephen Dale Hicks of Cynthiana on Sept. 26, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 5 lbs. 8 oz.
    Paternal grandparents are Angela Dawson and Fernando Alvarado of Cynthiana, and Stephen and Lisa Hicks of Morehead, Ky.; paternal great-grandparents are Dr. Charles and Rhonda Hicks, Lexington.
