    Join other women in the community for an event hosted by Bedford Acres Christian Church on April 1 and 2. The session will be simulcast live from Panama City, Fla. The speaker will be Priscilla Shirer, a Bible teacher.
    She is a graduate of the Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree in Biblical Studies. She is the author of many books and studies. She and her husband, Jerry founded Going Beyond Ministries.

  • I don’t know I could have missed it, but Feb. 13 was International Day of Self-Love.
    I was probably too busy loving myself that day to notice.
    Daylle Deanna Schwartz, author of “How Do I Love Me? Let Me Count the Ways,” is a huge advocate of loving yourself. She writes a blog called “Lessons from a Recovering Doormat” at Beliefnet.com and offers “I Love Me” tips.

  • THURSDAY, March 31
    Author Visit. Thursday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library.  Abigail Keam wrote Death By A HoneyBee: the  first of the Josiah Reynolds mystery series by the author. She is a member of the Kentucky Guild Artists and Craftsmen and the Lexington Farmers’ Market which was ranked 15th in the nation in 2009.

  • Devon Williams, Pastor Patrick Laney and Logan Bruce delivered canned goods to the Harrison County Food Pantry.

  • Margaret Watson receives a monetary donation from the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church for the Food Pantry. Pastor Patrick Laney and the youth of the church delivered the canned goods and check.
     

  • THURSDAY, March 24
    Classic Movie Night. Thursday, March 24 starting at 6 p.m. The movie will be “The Quiet Man” starring John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. The Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library will provide pizza, popcorn and soft drinks. Pre-registration is required and sign-up must occur by Wednesday, March 23 at 5 p.m.

  • If you have never had a vegetable garden before, this year is the year to do it.
    Grocery prices are encouragement enough; gas prices are high and grain reserves low so food prices won’t be coming down anytime soon. Plus, growing your own provides a degree of satisfaction that is hard to come by otherwise.

  • A few weeks ago I got a letter from a woman in Louisiana who had read one of my books.
    Sometimes when you write books people think you know stuff, that you have special wisdom and answers to their problems.
    I’ll let you in on a secret: We don’t, at least I don’t. I can put words together and make them sound pretty and sometimes I have a thought or two that may or may not be helpful to some people, but mostly I think that I don’t.
