    Chalk It Up.
    Thursday, Sept. 11 at 5:30 p.m. All ages are invited to come as chalk will be used to play all types of games and create own artwork. Program will take place in the basement of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. Pre-registration is appreciated.
    Berry City Commission will meet Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., at Berry City Hall. The meetings are open to the public.

    Central Christian Church is having a yard sale on Sept. 11 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sept. 12 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Lots of clothes and miscellaneous items. Something for everyone.  
    The sale is for the Carnival fundraiser that Central is sponsoring for baby Story Hill.


  • Bobby and Juanita Jones celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21. They were married in the Sadieville Christian Church.
    They hae four children, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

  • Jessica Mackenzie Whalen and Blake Richard Leathers were married on Saturday, June 7 at four o’clock in the afternoon. The ceremony was held at Leesburg Christian Church with the bride’s uncle, Brad Whalen, officiating. The bride is the daughter of John and Gerry Whalen of Cynthiana. The groom is the son of Greg and Cheryl Leathers of Louisville.
    The bridesmaids included Tiffany Whalen, Niki Whalen, Amy Lois Whalen, Jenny Meade, Ashley Ford, Emily Ammerman, Whitney Moisa, and Kelly Whalen.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Steve Slade of Cynthiana, announce the engagement of their daughter, Callie Brooke Slade, to Chase Michael Wachter, son of Mike and Laura Wachter of Cynthiana, and the late Lou Mary Wachter.
    The future bride graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a nursing degree and is employed at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    The future groom is self-employed.
    They will reside in Cynthiana.

  • Serenity Lynn Morris was born to Tarah Rector and Anthony Morris of Cynthiana on Sept. 4, 2014 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 8 lbs. 9 oz., and is welcomed by her brother Isaiah Morris and sister, Alexis Morris.
    Maternal grandparents are Elizabeth Nace and Rocky Arthur of Cynthiana, and Billy Rector of Union, Ky.
    Paternal grandparents are Linda Morris of Cynthiana and the late B. W. Morris.

    Births announced this week are: Sydney Michelle McElfresh, Aug. 27, daughter of Sandy McElfresh.
    Activities were halted on the Hilltop after a bomb threat was called in on bus no. 14. Nothing suspicious was found by Sgt. Mark Burden of the Kentucky State Police. No bomb squad was needed. Bus 14 is a spare bus, used only for replacement and field/athletic trips.
