  • One of the most anticipated rites of spring is dusting off the tiller and heading out to the vegetable garden for a little soil play. It is one of those things you can’t plan for, though. It becomes a waiting game because we can’t do it if the soil is too wet; we don’t want to do it if it is too cold and we only have the time to do it when the weekend rolls around.
    Well, what would you say if I told you that you were off the hook when it comes to spring tilling?  

  • Gabriel Heath Jones
    Gabriel Heath Jones was born to Donny and Leslie Jones of Cynthiana on Feb. 15, 2018 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    He weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz., and is welcomed by his sisters, Brinlee and Ellie.
    Maternal grandparents are Gary and Connie Perkins of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Richard and Helen Perkins.
    Paternal grandparents are Donald and Joyce Jones of North Middletown, Ky.

  • The Woman’s Club of Harrison County met on Friday, April 13 at Bluegrass Care Navigators for their monthly luncheon and business meeting. Virgie Wells, president, welcomed members, guests and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.

  • Kellyn Ann Thompson Hyatt, daughter of Bill and Carol Hyatt of Cynthiana, and Michael Scott May, son of Lisa May and JC May, both of Cynthiana, announce their upcoming wedding.
    The wedding will take place on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at The Summer House in Millersburg, Ky., by invitation only. Invitations have been sent.

  • * Cynthiana Democrat, Jan. 13, 1927 -- “The Ward Bakery has been installed in the building on Pike Street formerly occupied by the Atkinson Timer Co., where the ‘Twin Brothers,’ are known, have set up a complete and modern bakery. The Messrs. Ward are experienced bakers and had operated in Ohio for a number of years before coming to Cynthiana. Tempting pastries and an extra good grade of bread are kept fresh at all times.” (There is an Atkinson Timer on display at the museum.)

  • Mr. and Mrs. John Mac (Sandra) Palmer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 19. They were married at Robinson Christian Church on April 19, 1968 by Bro. Truman Whitaker.
    Mr. and Mrs. Palmer have two children, Rebecca Lee Palmer and the late Billy Ray Palmer, and two grandchildren, MacKenzie Faith Palmer and Landon Ray Palmer.
