    Caleb Wayne Northcutt was born to Daryl ‘Bubby’ and Kim Northcutt of Cynthiana on Sept. 15, 2011 at St. Joseph East. He weighed 7 lbs. 9 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Bettye and Allen Dampier and Mike and Janet Davis, all of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandmother is Alberta Davis.
    Paternal grandparents are Wayne and Judy Northcutt of Cynthiana.

  • Cayden Lee Banks

    Cayden Lee Banks was born to Heather Lynn Neace and Russell Lee Banks on Nov. 8, 2011 at St. Joseph East Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Gerald and Lana Hutchison Neace of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Susan Tipton Hutchison of Paris and Isaac and Elizabeth Southwood Neace of Cynthiana; maternal great-great-grandmother is Norla Tipton of Paris.
    Paternal grandparents are Jeannie Martin Banks of Georgetown and Richard Lee Banks of Ohio; paternal great-grandfather is Jonathon Russell Banks of Ohio.

  • Hollyn Mae Price

    Hollyn Mae Price was born to Bradley and Heather Price of Cynthiana on June 17, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz., and is welcomed by her brother Keene Bradley Price.
    Maternal grandparents are Kenny and Susan Kenall of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Ell Kendall Jr. of Morning Glory and Ruby Whitaker of Lexington.
    Paternal grandparents are Kenny and Joan Price of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Charles and Louise Forsythe of Cynthiana.

  • Brooks-Palmer exchange vows in Georgetown

    Emily Sue Brooks and Jonathan Journey Palmer were united in marriage on Aug. 27, 2011 at St. John’s Catholic Church of Georgetown, Ky. The Rev. John ‘Rocky’ Sugar, uncle of the bride, performed the ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Leo Brooks Sr. of Harrodsburg, Ky. and Susan Brooks of Lexington, Ky. She is a 2002 graduate of Bryan Station High School, Lexington, Ky., attended EKU 2002-05 and is attending Midway College.

    * Log Cabin, Sept. 28, 1928 -- “After extensive improvements, the Cynthiana Dairy is ready for business in its new quarters, having leased one of the large storerooms in the William Addams Co. building on Main Street. Dr. Bromley has had installed here the big Pasteurizing plant, big refrigerator etc and the company is ready for business with Mrs. Bromley in the front office.”

    One of a few sure things in my life is that I can keep my African violets in bloom year round. Many complain that after the first flush of blooms fades the only thing left is a year’s worth of fuzzy foliage.  
    Well, with a little attention you can keep your African violet cycling in and out of bloom all year round.
    African violets are easier to grow than many think if you create a favorable growing environment.

  • Brockmeyer-Jacobs exchange vows

    Kathryn Gayle Brockmeyer, daughter of Joseph and Peggy Brockmeyer of Dayton, Ky., and Samuel Staton Jacobs, son of George and Donna Jacobs of Cynthiana, were married at 6:30 p.m. on July 16, 2011, at Saint Bernard Church in Dayton, Ky.
    The bride is the granddaughter of Patsy Brockmeyer-Carroll and the late George Brockmeyer and Irma Nell Milner and the late Hobert Milner.
    The groom is the grandson of Earl McNabb and the late Sue McNabb and the late Richard and Elizabeth Jacobs.

  • Noble-Sowder plan August wedding

    Joe and Anna Sowder of Cynthiana, Ky., announce the engagement and forthcoming wedding of their son, Nathaniel Gene Sowder, to Kathryn Elizabeth Noble, daughter of Ray and Gaye Noble of Cynthiana.
    Sowder graduated May 2010 from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. He is employed at Parker Hannifin O-Ring division in Lexington, Ky.
    Noble graduated December 2010 from Bluegrass Community and Technical College with an Associate in Medical Information Technology. She is employed by Dr. Victor G. Lawson, ENT office in Paris, Ky.

    * Cynthiana Democrat, Dec. 18, 1941 -- “C. Campbell reported killed in Pacific. Navy Department notified family that William Clarence Campbell was lost in action during hostilities in the Pacific. It is believed he was stationed on the U.S.S. West Virginia.”
    * Log Cabin, Dec. 19, 1941 -- “Guy L. Bridwell, superintendent of the Harrison County R.E.C.C., has emphasized the need for organizing a home guard unit here.”
