    Births announced this week are: Emily Grace Cunningham, Sept. 1, daughter of Gary and Leigh Cunningham; Clay Daniel Furnish, July 19, son of Dan and Lori Furnish; Nathan Lee Graves, Aug. 15, son of Joe and Cara Graves.
    Harrison Electric Cooperative (RECC) and Blue Grass Energy consolidation plans approved. The name for the consolidation will be Blue Grass Energy Cooperative Corporation.
    Aurora Information Systems, PC Repair, Internet and sales, 105 Joe B. Hall Court, will be holding their grand opening Sept. 8.

    The Craig-Stewart-Cleaver family reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. at Blue Licks State Resort Park.

    The family of the late Walter and Alberta King Gaunce will be having their family reunion on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Elks shelter at noon.
    Bring a dish and come fellowship with us.

    JOCKEY
    The annual Jockey reunion will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 at 11 a.m. at the home of Phyllis Malone. Balloons and signs will mark the way.

    Aleyah Priscilla Sue Beagle was born to Dana Christine Beagle of Cynthiana on June 16, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 6 lbs. 6 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Bryon and Susan Switzer Perrin of Cynthiana and Michael and Shawnia Beagle of Carlisle, Ky.

    * “A mobile people in a vast land and all of us are still in motion” - Saturday, Aug. 27 was the final day for the Smithsonian Exhibit ‘Journey Stories’ in Cynthiana. What a memorable event.
    * Special thanks to Mary Grable and to all those who volunteered and participated in so many ways. “We all have Journey Stories.”
    * Robert Louis Stevenson - “Judge each day not by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant.”
    * Labor Day - How would you explain Labor Day - its origin, its meaning - to a young person?

  • Good Shepherd Orphanage performs at Rotary Club luncheon

    For several years the Cynthiana Rotary Club has been a supporter of the Good Shepherd Orphanage in Haiti.  Cynthiana and Harrison County residents/businesses have helped with this support through their generous donations to the club’s annual bean soup luncheon.
    Earlier this month, the club was surprised with a visit from students who live in the orphanage.
