  • Mary Henson group holds April meeting

    The Mary Henson group met Tuesday, April 3 at Elmarch United Methodist Church. Stella Hill Smith began the meeting with prayer.
    The business meeting was called to order by Pauline Copes, president. Final plans for the children’s Easter party was made and the ladies will be wearing their Derby hats at the May meeting. A discussion was held on the Tea party to be held in August.
    Diana White, treasurer, gave a report on the balance. April is sacrafice month and our offering was $78.

  • Tyler Ross Barnes

    Tyler Ross Barnes was born to Brittany Young and Shalyn Barnes on March 17, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Donnie and Tracye Young; maternal great-grandparents are Ervin (Slick) and Nancy Garrison and the late Kenny and Peggy Young.
    Paternal grandparents are William and Lisa Barnes; paternal great-grandparents are A J and Marie Ravenscraft and Lily Barnes and the late Robert Barnes.

    * From the works of Johnny Gruelle -- “And, when one is considerate of the happiness of others, he always creates happiness and sunshine in his own mind and heart.”
    * R. B. (Richard Buckner) Gruelle was born in 1851 in Cynthiana, Ky. He was a self-taught landscape and portrait artist, musician and writer. His family moved to Illinois where in Decatur he married Alice J. Benton.
    * R. B. and Alice became the parents of Johnny (John Barton) Gruelle who was born in Arcola, Ill. on Christmas Eve, 1880.

    Births announced this week are: Caleb Ryan Brooks, March 23, son of Stephen and Peggy Brooks; Nicholas Rogan Gareis, March 20, son of Mary Ann and Peter Gareis; Savannah Rai Jewell, March 18, daughter of Donald and Jessica Jewell.
    Allen Wachter, 14, of Cynthiana, bowls a perfect game during league competition. Wachter makes history as he was the first youth to bowl a perfect game in Bel-Aire Lanes history.

  • Ross-Custard plan September wedding

    Kaydon and Keylee Custard announces the engagement of their parents Tara Ross and James Custard.
    Ross is the daughter of Debbie (Bill) Selin of Cynthiana and Mike Ross of Aberdeen, Ohio.
    Custard is the son of Victoria and Larry Williams of Cynthiana.
    The wedding will take place Sept. 21, 2013 at noon.

  • Paige Davis and Finn Patrick Kelly

    Paige Davis Kelly, left, and Finn Patrick Kelly were born on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta to Katie Jacobs Kelly and Ryan Kelly of Smyrna, Ga. Paige weighed 5 lbs. 7 oz. while Finn weighed 5 lbs. 10 oz.
    Paternal grandparents are Cathy and John Kelly of Greensboro, N.C.; paternal great-grandparents are Jon Reed of Greensboro and Catherine Reed of Inman, S.C.
    Maternal grandparents are Donna and George Jacobs of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandfather is Earl McNabb, also of Cynthiana.

    Zoey Lynn Honeycutt was born to Courtney Workman and Josh Honeycutt of Cynthiana on March 30, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Beverly Crosthwaite and Carolyn Wright of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Sherry Crosthwaite and Carol Gutherie.
    Paternal grandparents are John Brown, Allen Honeycutt and Eddie Vanhook, all of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Cecil Wright, Marie Workman, Donal Lee Vanhook and Roy Crosthwaite.

    Adalyn Foster Gaunce was born toVonda Kearns and Jonathan Gaunce of Cynthiana on March 14, 2012 at Central Baptist Hospital. She weighed 9 lbs. 11 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Toni Rae Thompson of Cynthiana and the late Jackie Kearns; paternal great-grandparents are Gary and Theresa Philpott.
    Paternal grandparents are Mike and Michele Gaunce of Cynthiana.
    Great-grandparents are Toni and Steve Turner, Kenneth and Helen Whitaker and William and Nancy Gaunce.

  • Homemakers to host Tea Time at Grand Haven, Edgemont

    The Harrison County Extension Homemakers will sponsor a Tea Time for residents, family members and friends at Edgemont Nursing Home on Thursday, April 26 at 10 a.m., and at Grand Haven at 2 p.m. The event is to honor your years of dedication to your home and family.
