  • Roses to be honored on 50th anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. David Rose of Milford, Ky., announce that they are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on April 20, 1962 by the Rev. Sorrell at the Cynthiana Church of God.
    They are the parents of Lisa (Louis) Kendall of Cynthiana and Kathy (Joel) Brumley of Milford, and the grandparents of Jacob and Jesseca Kendall and Michaela Brumley.

    Kentucky Life, host Dave Shuffett joins a team of ghost hunters during an eerie stop at Octagon Hall in Franklin, which many believe is one of the most haunted sites in America. The program also visits the Wilson-Blair African American One Room Schoolhouse and Museum in Caldwell County; explores the cliffs above Lake Cumberland in Burnside; and more. The program airs Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 on KET.

  • Project Linus seeks blankets for children of fallen soldiers

    Project Linus is seeking help to honor some special heroes. The local North Central Kentucky Chapter of Project Linus is holding a quilt drive to benefit the TAPS Good Grief Camp for Young Survivors.
    Part of the 18th annual TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar, the camp is held over Memorial Day weekend in Arlington, Va., and provides a special experience for children who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died while serving in the U.S. military. The camp’s capacity is maxed out again this year, with some 1,600 children registered to attend.

    Military Extension Adventure Camp (MEAC) camps are high-adventure based camps for military service members and their teenage children (ages 14-18) to attend together.

  • Wileys to celebrate 50th anniversary

    Jim and Pat Wiley will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on April 14 with their four children, Bobby (Teresa) Wiley, Alice (Billy) Smiley, Patrick (Jessica) Wiley and Chris (Kacy) Wiley.
    The couple has five grandchildren, Addison, Jarrod, Emma Wiley, Keith and Samantha Smiley, and three great-grandchildren.

  • Smith-Cutwright announce engagement

    The families of Brandon J. Cutwright and Krystin L. Smith announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.
    Cutwright is the son of Betty (Harry) Harris and James W. Cutwright and the grandson of Donna J. Cutwright and the late Roy Cutwright Jr.
    Smith is the daughter of Laura (Robinson) Stanfield and Matthew (Christine) Smith and the granddaughter of Catherine Robinson.
    The wedding will take place Jan. 12, 2013 at the Prizing House. Formal invitations to be sent at a future date.

  • Mary Henson group holds April meeting

    The Mary Henson group met Tuesday, April 3 at Elmarch United Methodist Church. Stella Hill Smith began the meeting with prayer.
    The business meeting was called to order by Pauline Copes, president. Final plans for the children’s Easter party was made and the ladies will be wearing their Derby hats at the May meeting. A discussion was held on the Tea party to be held in August.
    Diana White, treasurer, gave a report on the balance. April is sacrafice month and our offering was $78.
