  • Oddville Homemakers Club to end year in May

    Oddville Homemakers have had an exciting past year which will end in May and begin again in September. New members are welcome. Some of the lessons have been on Social Networking, Self Defense, Consumer Beware, Couponing, Healthy Meals on a Budget, Growing and Cooking with Herbs and emailing photos.
    The group is also involved in special interest activities which include: Homemaker Day at the courthouse, food booths and exhibits, cultural arts contest, Little Feet Big Feet, blood drives, nursing home tea parties, Community Health Fair, Cancer Coalition and many more.

    Together with their families, Virginia Katherine Faulkner and Jakob Clifford Slucher request your company as they are united in marriage on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge in Cynthiana. All friends and family are invited.
    Faulkner is the daughter of Tressie Faulkner of Cynthiana and Jerry Faulkner of Berry, and the granddaughter of Martha Brown and the late Donald Brown and Adrian and Georgia Faulkner.

  • Box-Viens plan June wedding in South Carolina

    Mr. and Mrs. Terry Box of Cynthiana announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Susan Marie Box, to Derek Joseph Viens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Viens of Lexington, Ky.
    Box is a 2002 graduate of Harrison County High School and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She is employed by the Fleming County School System as an occupational therapist.
    Viens is a 2001 graduate of Lafayette Senior High School and is employed at Lexus.

  • Roses to be honored on 50th anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. David Rose of Milford, Ky., announce that they are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on April 20, 1962 by the Rev. Sorrell at the Cynthiana Church of God.
    They are the parents of Lisa (Louis) Kendall of Cynthiana and Kathy (Joel) Brumley of Milford, and the grandparents of Jacob and Jesseca Kendall and Michaela Brumley.

  • Kentucky Life team visits in Franklin, Fredonia and Burnside

    Kentucky Life, host Dave Shuffett joins a team of ghost hunters during an eerie stop at Octagon Hall in Franklin, which many believe is one of the most haunted sites in America. The program also visits the Wilson-Blair African American One Room Schoolhouse and Museum in Caldwell County; explores the cliffs above Lake Cumberland in Burnside; and more. The program airs Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April 29 on KET.

  • Project Linus seeks blankets for children of fallen soldiers

    Project Linus is seeking help to honor some special heroes. The local North Central Kentucky Chapter of Project Linus is holding a quilt drive to benefit the TAPS Good Grief Camp for Young Survivors.
    Part of the 18th annual TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar, the camp is held over Memorial Day weekend in Arlington, Va., and provides a special experience for children who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died while serving in the U.S. military. The camp’s capacity is maxed out again this year, with some 1,600 children registered to attend.
