  • Oddville Alumni Dinner

    The Oddville Alumni dinner will be held May 26 at the Cynthiana Christian Church fellowship hall. Gathering will commence at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Anyone who attended Oddville School is invited to attend and guests are also welcome. A hot catered buffet dinner is $18 per person served by Layne Tussey of  The Vault Catering.  Reservations are required by May 20.

    Landon Tod Morrison was born to Rebecca Caswell and Dustin Morrison of Cynthiana on April 22, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 11 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Dale Caswell, Angela Callahan and Ronnie Arnold, all of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Jane and Billy Callahan and Rita Caswell.
    Paternal grandparents are Rhonda and Tod Morrison of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Evelyn and Allie Morrison and JoElla and Roy Cope.

    2012 4-H Summer Camp
    It is that time again to sign up for the 2012 4-H Summer Camp. As many past campers will say, it is what they look forward to every year, and with good reason. 4-H Summer Camp is a great time to have fun, socialize, meet new friends, and make memories for a lifetime.  No matter what your interest is, there is something at camp for you, whether it is outdoor activities, sports, or swimming. Campers also participate in pool and field Olympics, as well as camp fire activities.

  • Piano students perform spring recital

    The piano students of Dr. Beth Laytart presented a spring recital at the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 28. Seventeen students participated, including Lucy Barry, Corrie Bascom, Kara Bracken, Meliah Carrel, Michaela Carrel, Ava Craig, Andra Gaunce, Elijah Harris, Amy Johnson, Anna Blake McDaniel, Morgynn McDaniel, Mary Hollis Partin, Olivia Partin, Harry Smith, Ross Smith, Jared Thomas, and Josie Vaughn.

  • Craig wins third in International Composition contest

    Ava Craig, age 9, has been awarded third prize in the 2012 Composition contest sponsored by the ‘Piano Explorer,’ which is a music magazine that is published for children. The theme of this year’s contest was “Ocean Life,” and Craig’s piece was entitled “Slow Ocean” and was evocative of jellyfish and seahorses that pulse through the water.
    She also submitted a piece of original artwork that will be published along with her composition in a summer issue of the magazine.

  • Mattox-Fryman to marry June 2

    Cara Mattox and Josh Fryman, both of Georgetown, Ky., announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 2, 2012.
    Mattox is the daughter of Lisa and Paul Mattox of Cynthiana. She is a 2005 graduate of Harrison County High School.
    Fryman is the son of Laura Wiloughby of Mt. Sterling, Ky., and Mike Fryman of Carlisle, Ky. He is a 2001 graduate of Nicholas County High School.

  • Ferguson honored at HMH Auxiliary luncheon

    The HMH Auxiliary held its annual volunteer luncheon on Wednesday, April 18. The luncheon had 25 members in attendance and featured guest speakers UK HealthCare Stroke Program Coordinator Lisa Bellamy and HMH Emergency Department Manager Karen Mayer. Topics were stroke awareness and the UK and HMH stroke care affiliation.
