  • Millersburg Garden Club to meet today

    Millersburg Garden Club is staying busy with many activities. Several club members traveled to Carter Caves State Park on April 2 for a day with Kentucky native, Jon Carloftis, who is an award-winning garden designer and author. On April 6, members participated in the Garden Club of Kentucky Annual Convention held at the Lexington Hyatt Regency. And on April 16, a group led by Melanie Turner and Cathy Wells marched in the U. S. Army Cadet Corps’ third annual Parade of Cadets in Millersburg.

    The Barnes family reunion, descendants of M.R. and Nancy Scott Barnes, will be held from noon to ? on June 25 at Unity Christian Church in the new shelter. A potluck meal will be served.
    All friends and relatives are invited.

    The Dailey family reunion will be held June 12 from noon to 4 p.m. at Northside Elementary School on US Hwy. 27 N.
    A potluck meal will be served at 1 p.m. Eating utensils, plates, cups and ice will be provided.

  • Scouts help clean up the streets of Cynthiana

    Cynthiana Boy Scout Troop 76 teamed up with the Licking Valley Community College to raise awareness of what is thrown in the streets of our fair city.   
    Litter on the streets ends up in Licking River, which is where our drinking water originates.  
    Troop 76 Leadership is trying to instill in the next generation pride in their community, county and state by teaching them to take notice of what can be improved, repaired and built in an earth friendly way.

  • Brosey-Wathen exchange vows

    Christy Marie Brosey, Cynthiana, daughter of Donald and Lisa Brosey, and Jason Andrew Wathen, Georgetown, Ky., son of Mrs. Pamela Bell and William Wathen of Bowling Green, Ky., exchanged vows April 30, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of Christ the King officiated by Father Gino Donatelli. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Don Brosey.

  • Harris-Criswell to marry June 17

    Whitney Lynn Harris of Georgetown, Ky., daughter of Kevin and Libby Harris of Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Jordan Thomas Criswell of Frankfort, Ky., son of Steven and Karen Criswell of Frankfort, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    Criswell is the grandson of Jean and Dale Criswell of Frankfort.
    There ceremony will take place June 17, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lawrenceburg. Formal invitations have been sent.

  • Barron- Perkins plan July wedding

    Melinda and Maurice Perkins announce the engagement of their son, Maurice Ray Perkins Jr. of Berry, Ky. to Elizabeth Nicole Barron of Cynthiana, daughter of Paula Barron.
    The couple will exchange vows on July 4, 2011 at the family’s residence at sunset. The reception will follow the ceremony. Guests will only be permitted by invitation only.
    The couple will then make their way to Gatlinburg, Tenn. for their honeymoon.

    The descendants, family and friends of James and Julia Anness will meet at Northside Elementary School on Sunday, June 5, at 12 p.m., for food, fun and fellowship.
    Everyone is asked to bring a dish of food to share.

    All descendants of Omer and Daisy Brooks are invited to the reunion at the home of Johnnie and Carolyn Brooks on June 5 at 1 p.m. Bring a dish, drink, pictures and cards.
