    Brendyn Christopher Ritchie was born to C.J. and Brooke Ritchie of Cynthiana on July 30, 2015.
    He weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Terry and Angie McMichael of Cynthiana; paternal grandparents are Chris Ritchie and Kristin Ecklar of Cynthiana.
    Maternal great-grandparents are Rosalie (Leon) Tunks, Bonnie Shawler and Joe McMichael. Paternal great-grandparents are Brenda (Doug) McCauley, Betsy (Harold) Herron and Tickie (Sandy) Ritchie.

  • Short days, cool nights initiate bloom for holiday cacti

    When attempting to grow tropical plants we are met with the challenge of mimicking their native habitat which is difficult inside our homes. We can allow Mother Nature to take care of some of this, outside, for now.  
    Move some of your orchids, holiday cacti and Clivia outdoors for the remainder of the season because we can initiate bloom by naturally managing day length and night-time temperatures.  
    The flowering of many plants (including some native species) is initiated by how many hours of light and dark the plant receives in a 24-hour period.

    Births announced this week are: Elijah Chase Fryman, Aug. 10, son of Amy Taylor and Carl Cummins; Isaiah VanLoring Smith, Aug. 6, son of Jeremy and Elizabeth Smith.
    Clean Earth is proposing to invent about $3,250,000 in building improvements and equipment over the next three to five years. The project is expected to generate an additional 250 jobs over a two-year period.
    The City Commission agreed to install 16 lights at the Business Park.
    • Echo River in Mammoth Cave is 360 feet underground.

If mail sent to you by Medicaid or kynect is returned to the Medicaid office, you risk losing your health insurance coverage. You must update your address to keep Medicaid.

    The descendents of James John and Will Courtney will hold their annual reunion on Saturday, Oct. 3. This year it will be held at the Pleasant Green Church fellowship hall. We will once again have a white elephant sale. All you need to bring is your gift, family, friends and food.

  • McCullough hosts September Omega meeting

    The  first   meeting of Omega chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority was held Monday, Sept. 1 at the home  of Betty Kay McCullough. All members were present, and answered roll call by telling of their favorite places in Kentucky to visit. Guest for the evening was former member Ann Hall.
    Secretary Kay Cox read the minutes, which were approved.
    Charlene Dawson gave the Grey Book review on meetings, both regular and social.  The Executive Board meetings were also discussed.

  • Barnhills to be honored with 50th anniversary celebration

    Tommy and Margaret Barnhill were married on Oct. 8, 1965 in Harrison County by the Rev. Ottis Fryman. Margaret is the daughter of the late Jake and Amo Fogle of Harrison County. Tommy is the son of the late J.T. and Geneva Barnhill of Muddyford, Scott County.
