  • Wigginses to celebrate 50th anniversary

    Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wiggins Jr. will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 29.
    They were married at Antioch Christian Church by the Rev. William McGarvey Lenox.

  • Bryant-Bowser to wed Sept. 2

    Laura Bryant of Cynthiana, daughter of Matthew and Jennifer Bryant of Carlisle, Ky., and Derek Bowser of Cynthiana, son of William and Dreema Bowser of Georgetown, Ky., announce their forthcoming marriage.
    The wedding will take place on Sept. 2, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Calvary Assembly Of God, Cynthiana, with David Luellen presiding.
    The bride-to-be will be given in marriage by her mother and brother. Her maid of honor is Ashley Russell of Maysville, Ky.
    Bridesmaids will be Kaylynn Bowser, Rachel Bowser, Pauline Banks, and Cayla Saunders.

  • Reunions

    STROUB-SWITZER
    This year we will be celebrating our 25th family reunion.  The reunion will be Sunday, Aug. 6 at 1 p.m. at Unity Christian Church on Ky. Hwy. 36W. The meal is potluck, all paper products will be provided, just bring your favorite dish(es) to share with everyone, plus your drinks.
    Bring family photos to share with everyone and plan on taking a family picture. There will be tables setup for a Silent Auction. Examples: handmade crafts, homemade bread, bag or basket filled with goodies (school supplies, candy, lotions, etc.), candles.

  • Reunions

    The annual Copes family reunion will be held Sunday, Aug. 6 at Curry United Methodist Church in the Patrick Building. A potluck dinner will be served at 1 p.m.
    Please come and enjoy the fellowship.

    Harrison Memorial Hospital announces a new healthcare provider for women. Mary Bell, M.D., is a certified obstetrician and gynecologist who has joined Dr. Derek Clarke of the Women’s Health Clinic of Cynthiana.

  • Curing potatoes, onion and garlic

    We harvested some fantastic looking “Red Candy Apple’ purple onions a few weeks ago and it is now time to start digging some ‘Yukon Gold’ potatoes and garlic over the weekend.
    I am so excited about the garden this year because it is performing so well. We need to wait another week or so to harvest the ‘Sterling’ and ‘Walla Walla’ onions because tops have yet to flop over; this allows them to store better.  

  • Give your summer flower garden new life

    Summer’s heat and weather can take a toll on your flower garden. But with a little extra care, it is possible to bring it back to life for a few more weeks of vibrant color and texture.
    It’s always important to make sure annuals and perennials get plenty of water this time of year, especially in later summer. Annuals, in particular, will start to decline without an adequate supply of water to keep the ground moist.

  • Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch enjoys its 42nd camping season

    The summer camping program at the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch officially opened to campers for their 42nd season on Sunday, June 11. The camp runs throughout June and July, serving both boys and girls alternating weeks, throughout the camp season.
