  • An Evening With the Arts to be a music lover’s dream

    Not only will the July 27 “An Evening with the Arts” feature over 30 artists displaying their work in local businesses, 10 authors set up in outdoor booths, a courtroom drama by the harriCYN Community Theatre, the Post-it Note Fashion Show, and the 1st Annual Poetry Slam, it will be the biggest night of music of the year. With two bands, two outdoor stages, various musicians and singers, “An Evening with the Arts” will be sure to delight music lovers of all ages.

  • Cooper-Sellers to marry July 28

    Mr. and Mrs. Allen Cooper of Sadieville, Ky., announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Cassandra Lee, to Dustin Sellers, son of Ricky Sellers and Kelly Wachter of Cynthiana.
    Cooper is a graduate of Spencerian College. She is employed as a medical massage therapist.
    Sellers is a graduate of BCTC. He is employed as a diesel mechanic.
    The wedding will take place at St. Edward Catholic Church on July 28, 2012. Invitations have been sent.

  • Kentucky Sheriffs’ summer camp celebrates 37 year anniversary

    The Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch summer camping program opened for the 37th year on Sunday, June 10 with boys in attendance. The camp will run throughout the summer, serving both boys and girls, alternately throughout the camp season.

    Kai’lan Aderrion Lee Combs was born to Enequita Harris and Phillip Combs of Cynthiana on May 26, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 14 oz.
    Maternal grandmother is Terry Harris of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are the late Charles Anna Wilson and the late Steve Harris.
    Paternal grandparents are Pearl Little and Charles Combs of Lexington, Ky.; paternal great-grandparents are Phyllis White and Harry White.

  • Belcher-Allison to wed in Las Vegas

    Autumn Dawn Belcher of Owingsville, Ky., and John Garnett Allison of Cynthiana, announce their forthcoming marriage.
    Belcher is the daughter of Tony and Sue Belcher of Owingsville, and the granddaughter of Mary and Mitchell Spencer of Mt. Sterling, Ky., Betty Belcher of Owingsville and the late Francis Belcher, and Carolyn Woodward of Greenville, Tenn. and the late Garfield Woodward. She is a 2000 graduate of Bath County High School, and a 2004 graduate of the University of Louisville, and is employed by Bluegrass Dental Center in Winchester, Ky.

    The Henry N. and LuMara Fryman family reunion will be held July 15, 2012, at Unity Christian Church on KY 36 W. Cynthiana.  
    Descendants include families of Edward and Nettie Fryman,  Ottis and Minnie Fryman, Florence and Dove Wagner, Ada and Wilford Wagner, Clara and Orie Florence, Ida Jane and James Snapp.
    A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Cutlery will be provided. Bring drinks.  Come and enjoy family, fellowship and good food.

    Navy Seaman Aron D. Cole, grandson of Ruth A. Sartin of Paris, Ky., recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
    During the eight-week program, Cole completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
    Cole is a 2009 graduate of Bourbon County High School of Paris, Ky.
