    Births announced this week are: Daniel Thomas Allen III, Sept. 9, son of Danny and Ricci Allen Jr.; Graves Edward Fryman, Sept. 10, son of Starlette Hope and Daryl F. Fryman; Jacob Leslie Hamm, June 26, son of Jeffrey and Rebecca Hamm; Elizabeth Jewel Kiskaden, Sept. 8, daughter of Susan and James Kiskaden.
    Harrison County Fiscal Court approves purchase of new radio equipment for the Cynthiana Fire Department. Total costs will be $5,541 plus another $450 or so for a new base.

  • Davis-Webster to wed Oct. 13

    Mr. and Mrs. Donald Davis of Harrison County announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Chelsea Marie Davis, to Jared Lawrence Webster, son of Tena and Dennis Webster of Grant County.
    Davis is a 2008 graduate of Harrison County High School and works in Grant County.
    Webster is a 2005 graduate of Grant County High School and is a welder at Qualex.
    The wedding will take place at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Williamstown on Oct. 13, 2012 at 5:30 p.m. Invitations have been sent.

  • Judy Letcher Scholarship awarded

    Barbara Snopek presents a check to Anna Hall, recipent of the Judy Mitchell Letcher Scholarship. Hall is attending Morehead State University. Attending the presentation were: from left, Snopek, Hall, Paula Taylor (aunt), Ruth McNabb (grandmother), and Lourena Judy (cousin).

  • Teater hosts Omega Preceptor Chapter’s Beginning Day meeting

    On Aug. 21, Preceptor Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi celebrated Beginning Day with all members attending a salad supper at the home of Bonnie Teater. Pat Terhune, president, announced that the first meeting of the year would be held at the home of Ann Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 4. Terhune distributed the New Year books and outlined some of the plans for the coming year.

    First case of West Nile Virus in Harrison County has been confirmed from the western part of the county. The virus is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito and can affect people, horses, birds, and other types of animals.

  • Birth: Billy Jack Smith II

    Billy Jack Smith II was born to Billy Jack and Amanda Joan Smith of Cynthiana on July 29, 2012 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 5 lbs. 2 oz., and is welcomed by his sisters, Sierria Lee, Tabitha Nichole, Emma Jean.
    Maternal grandparents are Tammy Pugh of Falmouth, Ky. and Charles Scalf of Cincinnati, Ohio; maternal great-grandparents are Kenneth Pugh and Joan Pugh.
    Paternal grandparents are Roger and Donna Smith of Cynthiana.

  • Birth: Ryder Mitchell Jacobs

    Ryder Mitchell Jacobs was born Aug. 4, 2012, to Sam and Katie Jacobs in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Crestview Hills, Ky., weighing 8 lbs. 12 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Joe and Peggy Brockmeyer of Dayton, Ky.
    Paternal grandparents are George and Donna Jacobs of Cynthiana.

    Descendants of George Woosley (Estill County) will hold a reunion/dessert potluck on Oct. 7 at 2:30 p.m. at the Carlisle Old Depot, Carlisle, Ky.

    FRENCH, FOOKS
    The French and Fooks reunion will be held at the Claysville Christian Church shelter on Saturday, Sept. 29. Lunch will be served at noon.
    Bring lawn chairs, drinks for your family, and a covered dish. Fried chicken, hot dogs, plates, cups and utensils will be furnished. Bring family pictures, old and new.

    CLASS OF 1964
    The Harrison County High School Class of 1964 is getting ready for their reunion on Oct. 20 at Biancke’s Restaurant. If you come for dinner, we will be in the back room at 5 p.m. We’ll order from the menu and everybody will pay for their own meal.
    After dinner we’ll move to the patio and bar areas to socialize. If you wish to attend only one that’s okay.
