• Woman’s Club of Harrison County holds September meeting

    The Woman’s Club of Harrison Country held their meeting on Sept. 13 at Hospice of the Bluegrass. Anna Ruth Mcloney, president, presided over the meeting and led members in the Pledge of Allegiance. This was our first meeting at the Hospice building and we appreciate the staff at Hospice of The Bluegrass allowing us to meet at their facility.

  • Quinn Giovanni Kennedy

    Quinn Giovanni Kennedy was born to April and Brandon Kennedy of Cynthiana on Aug. 26, 2013 at Women’s Hospital St. Joseph East.
    He weighed 7 lbs. 15 oz., and is welcomed by his brother Zachary Kennedy.
    Maternal grandparents are Sue and Chris Loch.
    Paternal grandparents are Bruce and Marleana Kennedy.

    Kyndal Elyse Blanton was born to Hannah Blanton and Josh Moss of Sadieville, Ky. on Aug. 10, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 6 lbs. 10 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Deanna and Todd Blanton of Sadieville.
    Paternal grandparents are Kay and David Moss of Cynthiana.

    * Cynthiana Democrat, Dec. 19, 1963 -- “Martha and Sue Brashear received a Christmas card from a cousin, Katheryn Harrison of Bourbon, Mo.  Harrison is a great-great-granddaughter of Benjamin Harrison who moved from here in the early days of Harrison County’s being. He settled his family in Missouri. A sister of Benjamin Harrison was the great-great-grandmother of Brashear.” (Do you know the significance of Benjamin Harrison?)

    CLASS OF 1959
    Members of the Bourbon County Class of 1959 will hold their 54th reunion on Saturday, Sept. 14. The event will take place at the Art Studio of Merle and Jan Wasson of Bourbon County. A social hour will be held from 4-6 p.m. and the buffet dinner, catered by Ed Taylor of The Carlisle Cafe, will be served at 6 p.m.

  • Historical Preservation committee of CHS seeking memorabilia items

    The Historical Preservation committee of Cynthiana High School (1872-1962) is collecting memorabilia to place at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Museum. If you have an item you would like to donate to our history please let us hear from you.
    If you have memorabilia from sports, pictures, annuals, chorus, bank, Hilltop news, certificates, the alumni association, trophies, etc., call Don Wagoner at 234-5598.
     Members of the  committee are Sally Kinney, Betty Jean Gray Haviland, Lowell Maybrier, Bill Penn, Don Wagoner, and Virgie Florence Wells.

  • Campbell-White to marry Saturday

    Savannah Melynn Campbell and John Robert White, both of Cynthiana, will exchange vows on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. at Beaver Baptist Church. Jeff Brunker will be performing the ceremony.
    Makayla Campbell will serve as maid of honor. Bridesmaids will be Kenzie Campbell, Jessica Arnold, Darcy Colwell, and Erin Gaunce.
    Danny White will serve as best man. Ushers will be Robert Pawley, Dillon Price, Lance Colwell, and Daniel Lemons.
    A reception will be held at the Cynthiana Country Club.
