  • Project Linus leads quilt drive for children of fallen soldiers

    Project Linus is seeking help to honor some special heroes. The local North Central Kentucky Chapter of Project Linus is holding a quilt drive to benefit the TAPS Good Grief Camp for Young Survivors. Part of the 18th annual TAPS National Military Survivor Seminar, the camp is held over Memorial Day weekend in Arlington, Va., and provides a special experience for children who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died while serving in the U.S. military. The camp’s capacity is maxed out again this year, with some 1,600 children registered to attend.

    Births announced this week are: Eli Joseph Hargett, April 12, son of Robert and Teresa Hargett; Audrey Nichole Reed, April 17, daughter of John and Tabatha Reed.
    Matt Stone Kentucky, Inc., which manufactures concrete stepping stones and veneer stone products, will be moving their operations to Cynthiana. Thirty-two acres have been purchased on New Lair Road near Bullard for the new facility. Customers of Matt Stone include Walmart, Home Depot and Lowes.
    J & B Flowers now open. Located on Hwy. 19 just off US 62 East (past Claysville).

    The James and Ora Iews Howard family reunion will be held Saturday, May 12 at 1 p.m. at the Falmouth fairgrounds, Falmouth, Ky., on U.S. 27 north.

  • Neace-Wade to wed in Hawaii

    Jessika Neace and Wesley Wade, both of Cynthiana, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    Neace is the daughter of Elizabeth and Dan Zimmerman of Somerset, Ky. and Bobby and Dorothy Neace of Cynthiana, and the granddaughter of Janice Moore of Cynthiana and the late George Moore. She is a 2007 graduate of Harrison County High School.
    Wade is the son of Gerald and Bonie Wade of Cynthiana and the grandson of Dillard and Allene Wade of Cynthiana. He is a 2003 graduate of Harrison County High School.

    Shane Asher Erne was born to Stacey Brett and David Erne on Nov. 28, 2011 at St. Elizabeth. He weighed 9 lbs. 2.2 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Harold and Jennifer Brett of Kelat.
    Paternal grandparents are Frank Erne of Cincinnati and Angela Erne of Elsmere.

  • Foley presents program on perennial gardens

    The Womens Club of Harrison County held their April 13 meeting at the Cynthiana Country Club. Bonnie Teater, president, presided at the meeting.
    Lois McCauley gave the blessing and the Spiritual Value.
    After lunch Anna Ruth McLoney introduced Beth Laytart who presented the music program.
    Virgie Wells introduced Michele  Foley who provided the program, Perennial Gardens Beautiful.
    Four guest were welcomed, Anita Mitchell, Pat Fryman, Becky Barnes and Sherry Copes.
