    Dawson Allen Wagoner was born to David Wagoner and Sabrina Hill, both of Cynthiana, on March 7, 2013 at Central Baptist Hospital.
    He weighed 4 lbs. 5 oz., and is welcomed by his sister, Caylee Hill.
    Maternal grandparents are Holly and Eugene Hill of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Cecil and Rhonda Wagoner of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Joy Bennett, Beulah Cain, and Wayne Bennett and Tina McNay, all of Cynthiana; paternal great-great-grandparents are Cordelia Bennett of Cynthiana and the late Cecil Bennett.

    Adalynne Michelle Kiskaden was born to Kayla Kiskaden of Berry, Ky., on Jan. 2, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Connie Kiskaden and Ronald Kiskaden of Berry; maternal great-grandparents are Janet Kiskaden of Cynthiana, Ronald Kiskaden Sr. of Cynthiana, and Opal Griffin of Cynthiana.

    Carl Xayne Hounchell was born to Ashley Hounchell and Zach Charles on March 12, 2013 at Georgetown Community Hospital.
    He weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz., and is welcomed by his brother, Zander Charles.
    Maternal grandparents are Brandy Hounchell of Deer Park, Texas and the late Carl Dwayne Hounchell of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Donna and Gary Charles of Cynthiana.

  • Laytart performs to benefit senior citizens

    The community is invited to a performance of popular piano music by Dr. Beth Laytart to help raise money for the Harrison County Senior Citizens’ Center.

  • Reunion

    The annual Oddville Alumni dinner will be held on May 25 at the Cynthiana Christian Church Fellowship Hall.   Gathering will commence at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Anyone who attended Oddville School or has an affection for it is invited to attend. A hot catered buffet dinner is $18 per person served by Layne Tussey of “The Vault Catering.” Payments are required by May 20, 2013.  

  • Good show for lilacs this year

    Last year I spent some time rejuvenating, if you will, our ‘Miss Kim’ lilac.
    It had gone years without any maintenance pruning, just never making the priority list for chores out at the farm.
    Although “Miss Kim” is considered a dwarf variety and needs less maintenance, it was in need of some serious reduction.
    Last spring after the shrub finished blooming, I removed about one-third of the oldest wood, which resulted in new growth so this year the lilac looks great.

  • Serhal-Bell plan May 18 wedding

    Elizabeth Joy Serhal, daughter of Al and Patty Serhal of Forston, Ga., and Duncan Tyler Bell, son of Justin and Connie Bell, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The wedding will take place May 18, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. at Grace Christian Church, Georgetown, Ky. The reception will follow at the home of Sherry and Steve Judy, aunt and uncle of the groom in Cynthiana, Ky. Formal invitations have been sent.
    Serhal is a 2012 graduate of Kentucky Christian University with a major in education. She is employed with Hands on Originals in Lexington.
