    The Leesburg Homemaker Club has a membership of 15, with six active members and nine members-at-large. Besides serving in the office of County Homemaker President, Judy Morris serves as the Leesburg Club president.
    Morris was recently honored with an award for her years of various service in Extension at the Extension Leadership Event held March 18.
    Other club officers are Sue Burrier-treasurer and Carole Roberts-secretary.

  • Duncans celebrate 50th anniversary with family dinner

    Carl and Patricia Duncan celebrated 50 years of marriage on Feb. 9, 2013. The couple exchanged vows on Feb. 9, 1963 in Oxford, Ky. The wedding was officiated by the late Rev. Charles Egbert. Their attendants were Elwood and Linda Sharron.
    The Duncans are the parents of five children, Bobby Duncan, Larry Duncan, Connie Duncan Bell, Sherry Duncan Judy and Gary Duncan. They have 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
    They were honored with a surprise dinner given by their children and attended by 39 family members at The Vault in Cynthiana.

  • Price-Gray joined in marriage on Jan. 19

    Megann and Austin Haynes and Kayla and Nick Gray  announce the marriage of their parents, LaDonna Marlene Price and Timothy Dean Gray. Mr. and Mrs. Gray were joined in marriage on Jan. 19, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at their home in Paris, Ky.
    The bride was given to the groom by her son, Austin Haynes.  Kayla Gray, daughter of the groom, and Megann Haynes, daughter of the bride, served as bridesmaids. Nick Gray, son of the groom, and Austin Haynes, son of the bride, served as groomsmen.
    A reception with family and friends followed the ceremony.

Fryman; Bradyn Clay Lukins, March 9, son of Nick and Ciji Lukins; Tyler Wray Thomas Navarre, March 18, son of Rob and Stacey Navarre; Hannah Elizabeth Norfleet, Feb. 27, daughter of Henry and Mary Gim Norfleet.
    The 46th annual Lions Club Auction to begin Monday.
    The grand opening of Jetubs, 102 S. Walnut St., will be held March 29.

  • Kaleb Gabriel Thomas Hicks

    Kaleb Gabriel Thomas Hicks was born to Kateland Nicole Cooper-Jones and Branden Thomas Hicks of Cynthiana on Dec. 26, 2012. He weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Bernardine Elaine Cooper and Ronald Ray Jones; maternal great-grandparents are Rubye L. Cooper, Charles L. Cooper and Geneva Jones Roark.
    Paternal grandparents are Patricia Ann Hicks and William Hicks; paternal great-grandparents are Ruby McNees and the late William Tommy McNees.

  • Ford-Lafferty plan July wedding

    Jessicah Ford, Morehead, Ky., daughter of Jeff and Carline Ford of Berry, Ky., and Nicholas Lafferty, Prestonsburg, Ky., son of Patricia and Anthony Lafferty of Prestonsburg, Ky., announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    The wedding ceremony will take place on July 20, 2013 at 7 p.m. at Cardome Center in Georgetown, Ky.

  • St. Edward Church to host Life Line Screening on April 4

    Residents living in and around the Cynthiana, Ky. community can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture.
    St. Edward Catholic Church will host Life Line Screening on April 4. The site is located at 107 N. Walnut St. in Cynthiana. Beverly Reed of Benton, Ky. attended a Life Line Screening and said, “I want to thank you for saving my life.”
    Four key points every person needs to know:
    • Stroke is the third leading cause of death and a leading cause of permanent disability.

    Billy and Pat Kern celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 9. They were married on March 8, 1963.  
    They celebrated  with a surprise party at the Rohs Opera House. They were blessed to have many friends and family attend.
