    Births announced this week are: Emma Catherine McGee, Aug. 27, daughter of Patrick and Erin McGee; Bradlie Wayne Waters, Oct. 4, son of Karla Martin and Michael Waters.
    Safety Way expansion to Ladish Road gets $500,000 funding. Safety Way currently runs behind E.D. Bullard, but stops at Fikeco, Inc. The extension would connect Safety Way to the existing Ladish Road at the Clean Earth Kentucky, LLC facility.

  • New Millennium Club to meet Nov. 21 at Cedar Ridge

    The New Millennium Homemaker Club met Monday, Oct. 15 at Biancke’s with 10 members present. The next meeting will be Monday, Nov. 21 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus for the supper meeting at 6 p.m.
    There are 22 members in the club and welcome new members.
    The group will be preparing homemade goodies and more for local servicemen at the November meeting.
    In December, the club will treat residents of Shady Lawn to a Christmas party.

    * Cynthiana Democrat, March 2, 1944 -- “The formal opening to the public of the National Bank of Cynthiana building, recently remodeled after it had burned in a destructive fire the latter part of August, was held Saturday evening. Hundreds of people visited the beautiful banking house where they were greeted by bank officials and personnel of the institution. Dr. Bob Loftin’s ‘Commanders’ furnished beautiful music for the occasion. Solos were by J. C. Watkins and Carolyn Stevens.”

    CLASS OF 1987
    The Harrison County High School Class of 1987 will hold its 25th reunion on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Roh’s Opera House, 133 E. Pike St., Cynthiana, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
    Remember when everyone met up at the movies on Tuesdays and Thursdays? Come reminisce. It’s now owned by our own ‘87 classmates Phillip Nickerson, Roger Slade and James Smith. We will mix and mingle and enjoy hor d’oeuvres. Cash bar will also be available.
