  • Harrison County Homemakers to sponsor blood drive May 10

    The Kentucky Blood Center Bloodmobile will be available at the Harrison County Homemakers Day, Main Street, on Friday, May 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
    Cancer patients often need blood products:
    • Some cancers can cause internal bleeding, which can lead to anemia (too few red blood cells).
    • Cancers that start in the bone marrow (such as leukemia) or that spread there from other places may crowd out the normal blood-making cells, leading to low blood counts.

    Jason Nicholas Davis was born to LaQuishia Talbott of Cynthiana on March 25, 2013 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    He weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and is welcomed by his sister Kalishia Davis.
    Maternal grandmother is Willetta Talbott of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are the late Sue Talbott and Charles Ray Trumbo.
    Paternal grandparents are Barbie Davis and Jeff Davis, both of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Monore Hutchinson and DeeDee.

  • Purcell-Norman plan June wedding

    Courtney Lynn Purcell and Shawn Michael Norman announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.
    The wedding will take place June 15, 2013 at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Nicholasville, Ky. A reception will follow at Highbridge in Wilmore, Ky.
    Purcell is the daughter of Bud and Patty Purcell of Cynthiana. She is employed by the Jessamine County Board of Education.
    Norman is the son of Peggy Norman of Nicholasville. He is employed by the Nicholasville Police Department.
    The couple will reside in Nicholasville. Formal invitations are being sent.

  • Barnett to host Omega’s May meeting

    The April meeting of Preceptor Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi was held on Monday, April 1 in the community room in Clifton Village. Pat Terhune was hostess for the evening.
    Officers for the coming year were elected and are as follows: Bonnie Teater-president, Betty Kay McCullough-vice president, Nancy Deitemeyer-recording secretary, Rosemary Lucas-corresponding secretary, Linda Root-treasurer, and Pat Terhune-Extension officer.
    Plans for a brunch to be held later in the month for the residents of Clifton Village were completed.
