  • Indian summer unfolding this autumn?

    I heard the weather forecaster mention the chance of an Indian summer last week and it got me thinking about this old print my father had hanging in his office.

    Liam Edward Whitehead was born to Daniel and Melissa Mahurin Whitehead on June 26, 2015, at Baptist East Hospital, Louisville.
    Maternal grandparents are Ed and Nina Best Mahurin of Taylorsville, Ky.; maternal great-grandparents are Thelma Best and the late Chester Best, and the late Aaron Edward and Nora Mahurin.
    Paternal grandparents are Jimmy and Janie Adams Whitehead of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are the late Walter D. and Mary Nell Roberts Whitehead and the late Harold W. and Kathleen McKigney Vaughn Adams.

  • Farm Bureau District 9 Outstanding Youth Contests
  • Barnett to host November Omega chapter meeting

    Omega chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met on Oct. 5 at the home of Pat Terhune.  Members answered roll call by telling what they were going to do the next day.  Some had fun plans, some planned to work at home or in the yard.
    Service chair Barbara Snopek gave a report on the 2015 recipient of the Judy Mitchell Letcher scholarship, which was Autumn Gray. She is attending Maysville Community College, working toward a two year associate degree in science. She is also working part time at Brooks Animal Clinic, with a desire to pursue a career in veterinarian medicine.

    She weighed 6 lbs.

  • Museum Musings

    * It is beautiful Autumn - it is the season to quote “A pictur’ that no painter has the colorin’ to mock - When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder’s in the shock.”
    * These well known ‘punkin’ lines were written by the Indiana poet James Whitcomb Riley (1807-1892). We have some books related to James Whitcomb Riley in one of the Raggedy Ann and Andy displays in the museum.

  • MCTC Spring 2016 registration underway

    Registration for Spring 2016 classes is currently underway at the MCTC/Licking Valley Campus.
    Classes begin Jan. 11.
    “By coming in early, students save themselves lots of hassle,” campus director Bruce Florence said. “The process is not difficult and starting soon is a good way to begin.  We are always glad to give the time and attention needed to get you off to a smooth start.”
