  • Cummins-Cobbins plan October wedding

    Tyris, Alarra, Airsiah Cobbins, along with their grandmother, Vesta Cummins of Georgetown, announce the forthcoming marriage of their parents, Cartia Renee Cummins and Larry Denard Cobbins Jr., son of Vivian Benson and Larry Cobbins Sr. of Hattisburg, Miss.
    Cummins is a 2001 graduate of Harrison County High School. She is employed by a health care agency.
    Cobbins is a 1996 graduate of Hattisburg High School. He is employed by International Crankshaft in Georgetown, Ky.

  • Royse-Schirmer exchange vows

    Sarah Elizabeth Royse of Louisville, Ky., daughter of Keith and Jeanie Royse of Cynthiana, and Mark Thomas Schirmer of Louisville, son of Charles and Suzanne Schirmer of Lexington, Ky., were united in marriage on July 30, 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at  Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest.
    The Rev. Charles Schirmer, father of the groom, officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father, Keith Royse.

  • New Women’s Club officers announced

    The Harrison County Women’s Club held their meeting Sept. 9 at the Cynthiana Country Club. Bonnie Teater, president, presided and welcomed everyone. She also introduced the officers for the next two years.
    New members Kay McCauley, Nancy Duncan, Ann Wells, Shelia Jamison and Marjorie Taylor, were welcomed, along with guests Catherine Lake, Sue Lake and Tammy Schweitzer.
    Spiritual Values and the blessing was given by Zenona McCauley.
    Anna Ruth McLoney introduced Lucy Marsh. Marsh presented the music program by playing the piano.

    Scarlett Rose Watts was born to Chris Watts and Ashton Moore of Cynthiana on May 29, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 5 lbs. 10 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Todd and Angie Moore of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandmother is Geneva French.
    Paternal grandparents are James and Janice Watts of Cynthiana.

    Kaylin Destanie Marie Hively was born to Kayla and Travis Hively of Cynthiana on Sept. 9, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 5 lbs. 7 oz., and is welcomed by her sister Lyrik Nevaiah, and brother Kaiden Daniel.
    Maternal grandparents are Debbie Callahan and Doug Stanfield of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are the late Iana and Bill Callahan, Nina Stanfield of Cynthiana and the late Clyde Stanfield.

  • Hall hosts Preceptor Omega Chapter’s Beginning Day luncheon meeting

    Preceptor Omega Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held the Sept. 6 meeting at the home of Ann Hall. Patsy Barnett, president, called the meeting to order and thanked the Social Committee for planning the Beginning Day luncheon at Malone’s followed by viewing the movie ‘The Help.’ This event occurred on Aug. 13.
    Social chairman Pat Terhune shared plans for an outing to Keeneland in October. Linda Root announced the Omega will be assisting with Elk’s Bingo on Oct. 17. This is the main source of the Judy Mitchell Letcher Scholarship for a senior girl.
