    * Sympathy and special thoughts to the Robert Poindexter family. Robert truly was instrumental in the beginnings of the Cynthiana-Harrison County Museum and its continued existence. Indeed, a special historian, a special gentleman.

    CLASS OF 1987
    The Harrison County High School Class of 1987 will hold its 25th reunion on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Roh’s Opera House, 133 E. Pike St., Cynthiana, from 8 p.m. to midnight.
    Remember when everyone met up at the movies on Tuesdays and Thursdays? Come reminisce. It’s now owned by our own ‘87 classmates Phillip Nickerson, Roger Slade and James Smith. We will mix and mingle and enjoy hor d’oeuvres. Cash bar will also be available.

  • Gillispies celebrate 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 26

    Gaylord and Betty Jo (George) Gillispie of Lexington, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 26. They were married Oct. 26, 1962  at First Assembly of God Church in Lexington.
    Betty was a hairdresser and Gaylord retired from I.B.M. after 30 years and he has been a United Methodist Church minister for 43 years.

    Balian Bryant Wiley was born to Tim and Meg Wiley of Cynthiana on April 28, 2012 in their home in Connersville, Ky. He weighed 9 lbs. 2 oz., and is welcomed by brothers Timmy Dale, Nathaniel and Alexander, and sisters Heather, Catherine and Aeowynne Wiley.
    Maternal grandparents are Steve and Cathy Richie of Cynthiana, Ky.
    Paternal grandparents are Gene and Betty Wiley of Frankfort, Ky.

  • Chapman-Fuller wed at Chapman farm

    Ashley Dawn Chapman and Charles David Fuller were united in marriage on Sept. 8, 2012 at the Chapman Farm in Nicholasville.
    The bride is the daughter of Pat and Marty Chapman, and the granddaughter of Dick and Peggy Chapman of Versailles, Donna Barnett of Nicholasville and the late Terry Teater.
    The groom is the son of Ronnie and Tonya Fuller. He is the grandson of Ronnie and Judy Sims of Cynthiana and the late Charles and Margaret Fuller, and the great-grandson of the late Roscoe and Loura Bedford and the late Robert and Louise Napier.

  • Robinson-Purcell exchange vows

    Linda Katherine Robinson and Justin Aaron Purcell were united in marriage on Sept. 15, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Cynthiana.
    The bride is the daughter of Lee and Cindy Robinson. She is the granddaughter of Linda West and Robert Newman, Kathy Barnes and Leon Robinson.
    The groom is the son of Bud and Patty Purcell. He is the grandson of Ronnie and Judy Sims and the late Paul and Dorothy Purcell, and the grandson of Ronnie and Judy Sims and the late Paul and Dorothy Purcell, and the great-grandson of Roscoe and Louise Bedford.

  • Pinney to host December DAR meeting

    The Cynthiana Chapter of the DAR met at the Cynthiana-Harrison County Public Library Annex on Oct. 12.
    Melinda Rawlings, Regent, called the meeting to order and welcomed members, guest Gail Whitson, and new member Ashley Swainhart.
    The DAR Ritual, the “Pledge of Allegiance,” and the “American’s Creed” were recited, followed by singing of the “Star Spangled Banner.”
    There was no President General’s message. Judith Rawlings read the National Defense message, and Melinda Rawlings read the Conservation Minute.
