  • Millersburg Garden Club’s Monarch Waystation dedicated on June 7

According to directives from The Garden Club of Kentucky, Millersburg Garden Club established a Monarch Butterfly Waystation at the Millersburg Cemetery in 2014. The garden is thriving and many Monarchs and other pollinators have been spotted there. The Waystation was created with the hope that it might help the beautiful Monarch Butterflies survive their long, arduous trip to New Mexico and the southernmost coasts of the United States.

  • Squash and cucumber pests

I can hardly believe how beautiful my tomato plants look and I do believe I will have a ripe one well before July 4th!
But what I am really anticipating is our first harvest of summer squash. I love squash and am happy to eat it for dinner every night.
Last year the garden was mostly a bust so I have high hopes for a bumper squash crop this year.
Mostly gardeners complain about losing their plants to the squash vine borer, but I have managed to offset that pest pressure by delaying planting in order to miss peak egg-laying time.
