    WCYN-AM radio and Rohs Opera House will present the Beatles tribute band Eight Days A Week for a one-night show at the theatre.

  • Live or fresh cut tree?

    So which type of tree reflects your holiday-style?  Do you get a fresh-cut, artificial or balled-and-burlapped?  Or do you just go out-of-town and let someone else do the decorating?  
    All are certainly acceptable but there are different rules that apply to each. Obviously, the artificial ilk has few restrictions but there are some things to remember if you get a fresh-cut or balled-and-burlapped tree for planting after the holidays.

  • Hot Cranberry-Apple Cider

    Prep 10 min     Total 25 min     Servings 12

    Ingredients
    2 quarts apple cider
    1 1/2 quarts cranberry juice (not cocktail, no sugar added)
    1/4 cup packed brown sugar
    4 sticks cinnamon
    1 1/2 teaspoons whole cloves
    Spiced rum or cinnamon schnapps, if desired
    1 orange, thinly sliced

    Steps
    • In 4-quart saucepan, mix all ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; simmer uncovered 15 minutes. Strain.

    2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1 cup butter, softened
    3/4 cup granulated sugar
    3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1 box (4-serving size) Jell-O™ vanilla instant pudding and pie filling mix
    2 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2 cups green and red M&M’s™ milk chocolate candies
    1 cup white vanilla baking chips

  • Mitchells to be honored on 50th anniversary

    David and Anita Mitchell of Cynthiana will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on  Dec. 3 at Cheers Event Center from 2-4 p.m. Cheers is located on Connersville Pike (Ky. 32 W. - the old Tussey Furniture building).
    They were married at Pleasant Green Baptist Church on Dec. 9, 1967.
    They have two children, Scott Mitchell (Andi) of Florida and Lori Gaunce (Kevin) of Cynthiana; and four grandchildren, Kelby and Jenna Gaunce of Cynthiana and Macey and Eden Mitchell of Florida.
    David is employed at Central Farm Supply and Anita is a homemaker.

  • Oddville Alumni Association Legacy

    The Oddville Alumni Association met for its annual dinner meeting on May 27, 2017, with 41 in attendance with Dorothy Copes Syra presiding. It was the 100th anniversary of the first graduate from Oddville High School and the 90th year of the Oddville Alumni Association.  
    At the conclusion of the meeting, officers were generally elected for the next year and a motion was made to disband the organization.    
    Those in attendance passed the motion for the disbandment.

    Births announced this week are:  Brooklynn McKaye McElfresh, Aug. 21, daughter of Amanda Boone and Joey McElfresh.
    Maysville Community and Technical College/Licking Valley Campus to begin registered nursing program next fall.
    An entrance road and parking lot have been marked off at the new park and will be finished in time for 2008 late summer activities.
    Harrison County Area Technical Center’s John C. Hodge is retiring after serving 15 years as principal of the school.
