    Lillian Elizabeth (Lilly Beth) Brown was born to Stephen Dale Hicks of Cynthiana on Sept. 26, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 5 lbs. 8 oz.
    Paternal grandparents are Angela Dawson and Fernando Alvarado of Cynthiana, and Stephen and Lisa Hicks of Morehead, Ky.; paternal great-grandparents are Dr. Charles and Rhonda Hicks, Lexington.

  • McKinneys 50th anniversary

    Charles and Minnie McKinney of Cynthiana will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 7.

  • Palmers to be honored with 50th anniversary reception Sunday

    Donald and Carolyn Palmer will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Feb. 24. They were married in 1961 at Unity Christian Church by Bro. John Guilfoil.
    They have three daughters, Carol (Donald) Richie, Donna (Lee Alan) Judy and Sonia (George) Frazier, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    A reception will be held in their honor on Sunday, Feb. 27 from 3-5 p.m. at the Cynthiana Country Club. All family and friends are invited. No formal invitations will be sent.

  • Harrison Republicans hold Lincoln Day Dinner

    Many locals gathered Thursday evening at the Extension Office to eat, drink (coffee) and be merry. The attendees were regaled with a humorous yet inspirational talk by State Sen. Alice Kerr from Lexington. Her theme: America is great because Americans are good.
    She even got the entire group to sing along... twice.
    The ladies of the local GOP group are to be commended on the wonderful meal that they oversaw.

  • Steffe to celebrate 90th birthday

    Beverly Steffe, right, longtime resident of Harrison County, will celebrate her 90th birthday this week. Pictured with Steffe is her sister, the late Ernestine Steffe Tribble, and their mule, Mike. Steffe taught many years in the Bourbon and Harrison County school systems.

  • Himes is Miss Fayette County

    Katie Himes, a senior at Harrison County High School, was crowned Miss Fayette County on Jan. 29 at Georgetown College. This is a preliminary to the Miss Kentucky Scholarship Pageant that will be held July 14-16 at the Singletary Center for the Arts on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Himes is also Miss Harrison County and has finished her year reign as Miss Teen America 2010.

  • Ammon-Davis remarry Feb. 4

    Dawn Angelina Ammon and Rodney Eugene Davis were remarried on Feb. 4, 2011, at the Harrison County Courthouse.
    The bride is the daughter of Clifford and Donna Ammon of Polk City, Fla. The groom is the son of Eugene Davis of Murphy, N.C., and Mary Forkner of Cynthiana.
    The couple was first married on March 30, 2002, and decided to remarry after a one-year seperation. The bride was given in marriage by their children, Aaron and Ariel Ammon.
    Magistrate Missy Lutz officiated the ceremony.

    Landon Ray Carson was born to Joshua and Crystal Carson of Cynthiana on Feb. 15, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz., and is welcomed by his brother Nathaniel Allen Carson.
    Maternal grandparents are Diana Herrington of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Judy Fryman and Betty Moore of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Jeffrey Carson and Shirley Carson, both of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandparents are Charles and Peggy Carson of Cynthiana.

    Andrea Lynn Batte was born to John H. and Bessie L. Batte of Mt. Olivet, Ky., on Feb. 2, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 5 lbs. 2 oz.
    Maternal grandmother is Virginia L. Stano of Far Haven, Mich.; maternal great-grandmother is Joyce Lathrop.
    Paternal grandparents are W. Kenneth Batte and Lillie C. Batte of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandmother is Helen W. Batte.
