  • Kentucky State Park staff offers free advice on hiking trails

    Staff members with the Kentucky State Parks are offering free advice on some of their favorite hiking trails across the state.
    The suggested trails are on the Kentucky State Park website – www.parks.ky.gov under “Staff Picks” – and offer basic information about the trails, a brief description of what guests will see and experience while on these state park trails as well as a photo.

    Births announced this week are: Kamryn Alexus Ladd, May 3, daughter of Ashley Kiskaden and Kevin Ladd; Spencer Riley Moore, Jan. 22, son of Jason and Amber Moore.
    The Harrison County Board of Adjustments gives Alex Lyons the okay to continue operation of the Richland Creek Sportman’s Club under a conditional use permit.
    Cynthiana Family Chiropractic to open soon.
    • The museum at Blue Licks Battlefield State Park contains some priceless pioneer articles, many of them used by Daniel Boone.

  • Woman’s Club of Harrison County meets for May luncheon

    The Woman’s Club of Harrison County met on Friday, May 9 for their monthly luncheon. Anna Ruth McLoney, club president, welcomed members and guests and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
    The luncheon was catered by Layne Tussey. Katherine Pettey offered the blessing. Pettey also presented spiritual values. She chose the story of Mary and Martha (Luke 10:38-42) as the inspiration for her message.
    Bonnie Teater introduced musical guest, Ben Clifford.  Clifford was accompanied by Brad Whalen who played the guitar.

    Dorothy Rayeandi Purcell was born to Linda Robinson Purcell and Justin Purcell of Cynthiana on May 2, 2014 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Cindy and Lee Robinson of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Kathy and Arvil Barns and Leon Robinson; maternal great-great-grandparents are Thanie Alexander, Linda and Robert Newman and Russel West.

  • Bradford-Northcutt plan May wedding

    Emily Bradford, along with Zach and Blake Northcutt, announce the forthcoming marriage of their parents Amber LeAnn Bradford and Jeffery Allen Northcutt.
    Bradford is the daughter of Jeff Grissom of Paris, Ky. and the late Vickie Lynch.
    Northcutt is the son of Charles and Sue Northcutt of Cynthiana, Ky.
    The wedding will take place outdoors at the couple’s residence in Berry, Ky. on May 17, 2014 at 3 p.m. The reception will follow immediately after the wedding.

  • Grayson to observe 100th birthday

    Lucy Kern Grayson will be 100 years old on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
    In honor of the occasion, her children, Johnny, Janice and Billy invites all her family and friends to stop by The Vault Restaurant, 201 S. Main St., on Sunday, May 25 between 3-5 p.m. to help her celebrate.

    Pete (Lawrence) and Janet Cline will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary on May 19.
    They have nine children (Pete’s step children), 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
