  • Moore to host Autumn Art Exhibit at Hospice

    Herby Moore, a Harrison County artist, will be hosting an “Autumn Art Exhibit” at Hospice of the Bluegrass-Cynthiana. Moore’s paintings will be located throughout the Hospice office from Sept. 18 through Oct. 30.
    Moore’s career began with his first painting of the historic “Covered Bridge” in 1962. He attended the Cincinnati Art Academy and also the University of Kentucky.

    The Harrison County High School Class of 1958 will hold its 75th birthday celebration on Sept. 12 at Cynthiana Christian Church. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m.

    LINVILLE
    The annual Linville reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 13 at Flat Run Veterans Park, Oddville Avenue, from 12-4 p.m.

  • McCauley to celebrate 100th birthday

    Ruby Lou Dailey McCauley will be celebrating her 100th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 27, from 3-4:30 p.m. at Grand Haven Nursing Home, 105 Rodgers Park Dr., Cynthiana.
    She was born Sept. 29, 1915, to the late Frank and Lillie Florence Dailey. She is the wife of the late Roscoe H. McCauley and mother of two daughters, Bonnie Harlene (Howard) Welch and Vivian Ann (Jerry) Brunker.
    Family and friends are invited to express birthday wishes with a visit or card.

    * Cynthiana Democrat, March 27, 1930 -- “The Terry-Marsh-Cummins Co. leased the fixtures and sold the stock of the Dixie Inn, Main Street, operated by R. A. Karrick to Mrs. C. Biancke and Joe Biancke, who will take possession of the business about April 1, when a number of changes will be made. Mrs. Biancke and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Whitaker will have apartments on the second floor of the building.”

  • Mental Health Matters event planned for Oct. 5 at HCHS

    There has been increasing interest regarding the need for mental health awareness in our community. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) on Campus at Maysville Community & Technical College opened this dialogue last year and received great support.

  • Woodford-Florence to marry Sept. 19

    MaLeah Grace Florence announces the forthcoming marriage of her mother, Brittany Denise Woodford, and her father, Sean Michael Florence, on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at 4:30 p.m. at Central Christian Church of Cynthiana.
    Woodford is the daughter of Kim Bowles of Georgetown.
    Florence is the son of Mike Florence of Cynthiana and Kelly Florence of Lebanon, Ky.
    A reception will follow immediately after the ceremony. All family and friends are invited.LPO

  • Thompson-Osterbrook exchange vows

    Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Edward Osterbrook announce the marriage of their children, KathrynAnn Thompson to Kendall Tanner Osterbrook. The ceremony was performed on May 16, 2015 at Hill and Dale Christian Church, Lexington, Ky., and was officiated by the Rev. Jeffrey Raleigh, uncle of the groom.
    The bride wore a floor length chiffon and tulle gown adorned with sequins and crystal jewels. She carried a large bouquet of baby’s breath with pale pink roses secured with pink satin ribbon.

    Harrison County Extension Homemaker Clubs are gearing up for an exciting 2015-2016 year of activities that include lessons of importance to all, craft and travel opportunities, service to others, and a time for social interaction with friends.
    There are 13 active clubs in Harrison County that meet at different days and times to accommodate anyone’s schedule. Following is a list of clubs, along with meeting times, and president’s name. Consider this your invitation to become a member and enjoy the fellowship.
