  • The romance of mulch

    I know, many of you would think that a trailer load of mulch is not a very romantic present from your husband on your 46th birthday…but I absolutely love it.  
    We missed our window of opportunity to get mulch down in our big perennial beds last spring so Andy was motivated by my birthday to get it done in 2015.  
    It looks great (until the chickens show up and do their scratching- oh well).
    Mulch has become a landscape staple, almost to a fault when it is over applied, smothering roots and girdling trunks.

  • Young-Barnes exchange vows

    Brittany Lee Young, daughter of Donnie and Tracye Young and Shalyn Ross Barnes, son of William and Lisa Barnes, were married on Nov. 29, 2014 at Cynthiana Presbyterian Church.
    Emily Garrison, cousin of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Andrea Barnes and Kacey Tucker, sisters of the groom.
    Austin Roberts, friend of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Shawn Ravenscraft, cousin of the groom and Travis Tucker, brother-in-law of the groom.

  • Tolbert-Dye to wed March 28

    Pat Dye and Dwana Tolbert, together with their families, announce their engagement.
    The two will be joined together in holy matrimony on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Indian Creek Christian Church. A reception will be immediately following at the Indian Creek Christian Church Life Center.

  • Tipton- Linville plan May wedding

    Tony Tipton and Jayne Robin of Paris, Ky., announces the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Elizabeth Tipton, to Matthew Ray Linville, son of Larry and Beverly Linville of Cynthiana, Ky.
    The wedding will take place Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in Paris, Ky. at the Legion Park. Formal invitations have been sent.

  • Clyde hosts March Cynthiana Chapter DAR meeting

    The Cynthiana Chapter of the DAR met at the home of Betsy Clyde on March 14. The meeting was called to order by Vice Regent Jane Whitehead. Guests Marvin and Sandy Sullivan, Sonia Smiley and Miranda McKee were introduced.
    The DAR Ritual, Pledge of Allegiance, The Americans Creed and the Preamble were recited followed by singing the Star Spangled Banner.
    The President General’s message was read by Jayne Newman and the National Defense message was read by Whitehead.

  • Lilly May Rose Boyers

    Lilly May Rose Boyers was born to Kennetha Slone and Theodore Boyers of Cynthiana on March 19, 2015 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 4 lbs. 15 oz., and is welcomed by her brother Cadien T. Boyers.
    Maternal grandparents are Kenneth Slone and Juanita Slone  of Sadieville, Ky.
    Paternal grandparents are Dorothy Boyers and Jack Smith of Cynthiana.

  • Paulo Alexander Torres

    Paulo Alexander Torres was born to Juan and Kelsey Torres of Swansboro, N.C. on Nov. 25, 2014. He weighed 7 lbs. 12 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Donnie and Tracye Young of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Ervin (Slick) Garrison and the late Nancy Garrison and Kenny and Peggy Young.
    Paternal grandparents are Guillermo and Trinidad Torres of Sparta, N.C.; paternal great-grandparents are Adolfo and Maria Madrigal and Jesus and Trinidad Torres of Mexico.
