  • Whitakers to celebrate 50th anniversary

    Billy Frank and Ellen Whitaker will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 17. The couple married in Cynthiana, Ky. in 1964. The Whitakers have two daughters, Lisa and Sandy; six grandchildren, Greg, Amanda, Michael, Billy Joe, James, and Timmy; and four great-grandchildren, BJ, Allison, Mary Jane and Jacob.
    The Whitaker’s daughters and grandchildren invite family and friends to join in the celebration on June 17 at the Whitaker’s home on Granger Lane from 4-7 p.m. Cake and hors d’oeuvres will be served.

  • Lena Charles Rains

    Lena Charles Rains was born to Shaun and Anastasia Rains of Cynthiana on May 16, 2014 at Harrison Memorial Hospital.
    She weighed 6 lbs. 6 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Tom and Beverly Pierce of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are the late Lawrence and Gladys Haley and the late Archie and Lena Mae Pierce.
    Paternal grandparents are Bill Rains of Williamsburg and Bud and Brenda Moore of Gray; paternal great-grandparents are the late Charlie and Illa Rains and Virgil Carpenter and the late Dorthene Carpenter.

  • 102 year old Cedar Ridge resident throws first pitch at Lexington Legends Game

    Grace R., resident at Cedar Ridge Health Campus, proved to Lexington Legend fans that age doesn’t have to get in the way of your goals and passions.
    On Tuesday, May 20, Cedar Ridge took seven residents and five staff members to Whitaker Ballpark in Lexington to watch the Lexington Legends take on the Hagerstown Suns as the kickoff to their Summer Fieldtrip program. Everyone enjoyed the game and they even danced, cheered, and sang in the seventh inning stretch where they were recognized over the loud speaker.

    RUDDLES MILLS CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL
    The Ruddles Mills Consolidated School in Bourbon County reunion will be June 28 at the Ruddles Mills Christian Church.
    Fellowship will begin at 5 p.m. with a potluck meal served between 5 and 6 p.m.
    Bring a covered dish to share and fellowship with old friends.

    The Cynthiana High School Class of 1954 will hold their 60th year reunion on Saturday, June 28 at The Prizing House, 329 S. Church St. Social hour will be from 5-6 p.m. with a buffet dinner beginning at 6 p.m.

    On May 22 Bill Probus, right, became the Cynthiana Rotary clubs newest Paul Harris Fellow. Pictured with Probus is Doug Price, club president. Presently 30 of the club’s 52 members are Paul Harris Fellows. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
