  • Hall-Berry plan July wedding

    Jillian Rose Hall of Cynthiana, daughter of Ronnie Hall of Mt. Sterling, Ky. and Andrea Hughes of Georgetown, Ky., and Edward Colten ‘Coty’ Berry of Cynthiana, son of the late Edward Berry of Berry, Ky. and Jennifer Roberts of Cynthiana, announce their engagement and forthcoming marriage.
    Hall is a 2010 Harrison County High School graduate and is a sophomore at Maysville Community and Technical College studying Office Technology.
    Berry is a 2009 Harrison County High School graduate and is employed by Toyota of Georgetown, Ky.

  • Alexander Mitchell Spigles

    Alexander Mitchell Spigles was born to Cheryl McRoberts and Craig Spigles of Cynthiana on Dec. 9, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 6 lbs. 5 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are James and Linda McRoberts of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Thelma McRoberts and the late Carl E. McRoberts Sr.
    Paternal grandparents are Robert E. Janet Spigles of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandmother is Geneva French.

    Brynlee Raine Batson was born to H.D. and Cindi Batson on Jan. 11, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital. She weighed 7.8 lbs.
    Grandparents are Ben and Terry Sloat and Donnie and Kay Batson.

  • Community baby shower planned

    A community baby shower is an event for expectant parents and for parents to children birth through age 3. It combines training and informational booths, cake, punch and free prizes.
    The first annual Harrison County Community Baby Shower will be held April 21 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Westside Elementary School. You must attend the entire session to be eligible to win door prizes.
    Car seat checks will be provided before and after the shower as well as a booth that can be visited.
    Events will include:
    • Registration from 4:30-4:45 p.m.

  • Homemakers hosts 4th annual tea party at Cynthiana nursing homes

    Harrison County Homemakers look to add smiles to nursing home residents with Hawaiian-themed tea parties.
    “This makes the fourth year that we have hosted tea parties at the nursing homes,” said Cheryl Case, Extension Agent for Family and Consumer Science. “We see it as a way to honor those who dedicated their life to their families and treat them to an hour of old-fashioned tradition.”

  • Davisson presents program at Women’s Club meeting

    The Women’s Club of Harrison County had their meeting at the Harrison County Country Club on April 9. The Pledge to the Flag was led by Virgie Wells, club president.
    The blessing and Spiritual Values was given by Zenoa McCauley.
    In the absence of Bonnie Teater, Wells introduced Susan Davisson. Her program was ‘Jewelry be the Spoonful.’ She showed jewelry she had made out of silverplated spoons, forks, bracelets, rings and pendants.
    The club welcomed three guests, Susan Davisson’s mother Sandy Zumwalt, Judy Judy and Etta Donahue.
