    Andrea Lynn Batte was born to John H. and Bessie L. Batte of Mt. Olivet, Ky., on Feb. 2, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 5 lbs. 2 oz.
    Maternal grandmother is Virginia L. Stano of Far Haven, Mich.; maternal great-grandmother is Joyce Lathrop.
    Paternal grandparents are W. Kenneth Batte and Lillie C. Batte of Cynthiana; paternal great-grandmother is Helen W. Batte.

  • John McCalla Brenzel

    John McCalla Brenzel was born to John and Jouett Kinney Brenzel of Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011. He weighed 7 lbs. 13 oz., and is welcomed by his brother, William.
    Maternal grandparents are Hall and Sarah Kinney of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are John and Joyce Brenzel of Louisville, Ky.
     

  • Edwards presents program on birds

    The Women’s Club of Harrison County met Feb. 11 at the Cynthiana Country Club. Virgie Wells, president, lead the pledge to the flag. Lois McCauley gave the blessing and Spiritual Values.
    Bob Owen gave a talk on the Community College’s new building and Cindy Hill provided the music of several old favorites.
    Bonnie Teater introduced Julie Edwards. Her program was all about birds, building nests, laying eggs and how much fun they are to watch.

  • Stepping high with the Cyn-City Dancers

    You see them at several Harrison County functions, out-of-town functions, even at nursing homes. They will delight you with their variety of music and dance moves. They are the Cyn-City Dancers.
    Jeffrey and Laura Clifford began taking a couples dance lesson about 17 years ago, attending sessions where ever they could find them. Once confident of their accomplishments, they began instructing others interested in dancing. They taught couples dance for about four years before moving on to line dancing.

  • Easton Gray Reynolds

    Easton Gray Reynolds was born to Petey and Jessica Reynolds of Cynthiana on Oct. 3, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. He weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz., and is welcomed by his brother Boston Reynolds.
    Maternal grandparents are Larry and Linda Gray of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are O.B. and Sylvia Reynolds of Cynthiana.

    Hank Russell Davis was born to Kenneth Russell Davis and Emily Arnold Davis of Lexington, Ky. on Jan. 16, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital. He weighed 5 lbs. 15 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Arnold Jr.; maternal great-grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Lemuel Arnold Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ross Pepper Jr.

    * Cynthiana Democrat, Feb. 2, 1922 -- “Dr. G. A. Beckett, in charge of Monticello Sanitarium, this city, has executed a contract with the National Government for the care and treatment of 50 tubercular patients, World War veterans. Monticello is the former T. J. Megibben residence, one of the finest in Kentucky in its day, situated on a commanding elevation in the outskirts of Cynthiana.”

    Madelynn Leigh Muntz was born to Josh and Ashley Muntz of Cynthiana on Nov. 24, 2010 at Saint Joseph East Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs. 3 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Danny and Emma Stroub of Cynthiana; maternal great-grandparents are Mary Stroub of Cynthiana and the late Henry Stroub and Mary Hedges of Paris, Ky. and the late Harvey Hedges.
