    The Cynthiana Democrat newspaper launches web site, www.cynthianademocrat.com, on July 4.

  • Couple weds in California ceremony

    Tanya Brum Da Silveira of Los Angeles, Calif., and Malaga, Spain, and Michael Harpel, Los Angeles, Calif., were united in marriage on May 28, 2011, at 6 p.m. in Chino Hills, Calif., by the Rev. Dennis Stahl.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a unique pink and black dress of her own design, with matching hat and black veil, topped with a Spanish Mantilla. Her bouquet was self-made of pink and black buttons.

  • Kaler-Whalen to wed July 9 in Paducah

    Mr. and Mrs. Mike and Roxane Kaler of Benton, Ky., announces the engagement of their daughter, Emily Roxane Kaler, to W.M. Rus Whalen, son of Brad Whalen and Cathy Caudill of Cynthiana, Ky.  
    Kaler is the granddaughter of Norman Morgan and Ramona Turner of Paducah, Ky. and Jerry and Bennie Lou Kaler of Paducah. She is a 2007 graduate of Christian Fellowship School in Benton, and a 2011 graduate of Murray State University in Murray, Ky. with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing.  

  • Moore-Hill to wed in private ceremony

    Timothy Jay Hill and Crystal Karen Moore, both of Cynthiana, will unite on July 16, 2011 at a private ceremony at the couple’s home.
    Hill is the son of J.R. and Jane Hill of Cynthiana.
    Moore is the daughter of Jay and Brenda Howard of Dry Ridge and the late Gale Moore of Berry.
    A reception will be held downstairs at the Cynthiana Elks Lodge at 8 p.m. All family and friends are welcome.

  • Brockmeyer-Jacobs to marry July 16

    Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brockmeyer of Dayton, Ky., announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Kathryn Gayle, to Samuel Staton Jacobs, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Jacobs of Cynthiana.
    Brockmeyer is a graduate of Newport Catholic High School and has a Master of Art in Teaching from Thomas More College. She is employed by St. Henry Middle School.

  • Ian Rayne Dickey

    Ian Rayne Dickey was born to Devon and Samantha Dickey of Morehead, Ky. on May 1, 2011 at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. He weighed 5 lbs. 12 oz.
    Maternal grandparents are Gary and Susan Malone of Cynthiana.
    Paternal grandparents are Larry and Susan Dickey, and Mike and Mindy Presson of Leesburg, Georgetown
    Great-grandparents are Dianna and Tom Fogle, and John Evans.

  • Emily Paige Craycraft

    Emily Paige Craycraft was born to Steven A. Craycraft II and Rebecca K. Craycraft of Cynthiana on April 21, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She weighed 8 lbs. 7 oz., and is welcomed by her brothers, Jacob, Nicholas and Matthew Craycraft.
    Maternal grandparents are Larry and Karen Tubbs of Millersburg, Ky.
    Paternal grandparents are Steve and Sherry Craycraft of Cynthiana.

  • Reunions

    NICHOLS
    The Nichols family reunion will be held July 10 at Kincaid Lake State Park in Falmouth, Ky. A potluck meal will be served at 1 p.m. at the big shelter. All friends and relatives are invited.

    RICHARDSON, FRANKLIN, RITCHIE
    The Richardson, Franklin, and Ritchie reunion will be held Saturday, July 9 at the Richardson home place on Peak Lane beginning at 11 a.m. Bring a covered dish. Lunch will begin at noon. Meat, plates, and flatware will be provided.

  • Smith to celebrate 90th birthday

    The family of Ishmael Smith invites all family and friends to his 90th birthday celebration on Sunday, July 10 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Indian Creek Christian Church. He requests no gifts just your presence.
    He is married to Wyoma Allison Smith.  They have one son, Keith (Joyce) Smith and one daughter, Sheila (Rick) Schuler, six grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
