  • Give your summer flower garden new life

    Summer’s heat and weather can take a toll on your flower garden. But with a little extra care, it is possible to bring it back to life for a few more weeks of vibrant color and texture.
    It’s always important to make sure annuals and perennials get plenty of water this time of year, especially in later summer. Annuals, in particular, will start to decline without an adequate supply of water to keep the ground moist.

  • Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch enjoys its 42nd camping season

    The summer camping program at the Kentucky Sheriffs’ Boys and Girls Ranch officially opened to campers for their 42nd season on Sunday, June 11. The camp runs throughout June and July, serving both boys and girls alternating weeks, throughout the camp season.

    The Henry N. and LuMara Fryman family reunion will be held July 16 at Unity Christian Church on Hwy. 36 W., Cynthiana, Ky.
    Descendants include families of Edward and Nettie Fryman, Ottis and Minnie Fryman, Florence and Dove Wagner, Ada and Wilford Wagner, Clara and Orie Florence, Ida Jane and James Snapp.
    A potluck lunch will be served at 1 p.m. Cutlery will be provided. Bring drinks. Come and enjoy family, fellowship and good food.

    The annual reunion of the late Harley and Lula Kelley Earlywine will be held on Sunday, Aug. 6 at Blue Licks State Park at the small shelter on the hill by the playground.
    A potluck lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. Everyone is asked to please bring a covered dish and come out and enjoy the day.

    The Harrison County Class of 1972 will hold its 45-year reunion on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. at Ashford Acres Inn, 1801 KY 36 East,  Cynthiana. The cost is $25 per person with an Aug. 1 deadline to pay. No money will be accepted at the door. There will be no refunds after Aug. 10.     Larry White and Brenda Jenkins were united in marriage on July 2, 2017 at Antioch Mills Christian Church in Berry, Ky.
    Billy Martin of Carlisle, Ky., served as best man.
    Beth Campbell of Richmond, Ky., was maid of honor.
    Evan Meyer officiated the ceremony.
